I hope Bioware don't pull a Dragon Age 2 where everyone is bisexual. For me, that's unrealistic.

Yeah, I'll tell ya what's also unrealistic - the fact that 90% of ManShep's female squadmates are into him. Or the fact all these women absolutely don't mind dating a guy who beats other women for no reason. Ohh yeah, don't forget about not carring about anything Shep does even if it's incompatible with the LI's moral standards & criterias. It's especially more jarring in a franchise like Mass Effect which focuses on choices and morals, not on sexual orientation. But of course we never see anyone complaining about that, go figure

Exactly. How is it more realistic for Tali (or Jack) to be into a xenophobic Cerberus-lover. Or that so many women find maleShep irresistible despite the fact that he could look like he's taken a Cain to the face. Apparently realism in romances only matters when it's about gay/bi romance.

Same can be said with Femshep and Garrus/Thane.

Let's not act like it's solely one sex is the problem here.

No one ever said it was just about one gender. But it's frankly even more unrealistic with straight ManShep, since the percentage of his female squadmates all being hot & bothered for him is higher than with FemShep and her male squadmates.

It doesn't make sense for anyone.

Even Garrus flat out admits that he doesn't find humans attractive and yet..

And I know nobody explicitly said that it's *only* Maleshep, but ye're only talking about Maleshep.

True, and yet barely anyone complained in the past 4 years. But when gay romances get announces, suddenly tons of people care oh-so-deeply about the realism in Shep's ability to access/start a romance.

When I talked about hitting women and hoe many girls are into Shep yes. But not when I was talking about LIs not carring about morals and Shep's actions in general. That does for petty much all of them.

Don't quote out of context. When I said that Dragon Age: Origins got it right, I meant that it got everything right. The companions, the banter, the dialogue. You Mass Effect fans simply took the companions from Mass Effect and praised them but they lack the depth of Origins' companions. Don't blame me for what Bioware thought they were doing right. If it were up to me, Mass Effect would have the banter system of Dragon Age and companions would react to all decisions you make.

I wasn't here when ME released and when ME2 was releasing, I was too busy playing DA:O and this is like the seventh Mass Effect 3 thread I've posted in since the game was announced. You ME fans should have told Bioware your concerns as you've always been in the Mass Effect forums before the games release.

Don't attack a humble Dragon Age: Origins fans.

And what women were all hot for Shepard automactically? I had to chat Miranda up before she made any suggestions. I don't remember Aria (or whoever that blue elf chick is) or Tali (purple elf chick) making any advances on my Shepard back in ME1.

It's not about ME or Origins, it's about the fact you're arguing realism in a fantasy / sci-fi game where there are plenty of unrealistic features and where it should be about expanding player choice.

@ OP: Metagaming before the actual game is released may not be the best way to enjoy the product.

You didn't say that in the original post, you only talked about "all bi" and how you didn't like it in DA2 and how DAO got it right.

All pure fanservice.

Characters are LIs for heterosexuals. Homosexual people complain that the option wasn't given to them; it's implemented. People then complain about the implementation.

Characters are not LIs at all. People complain that the option wasn't given to them; it's implemented. Other people then complain about the implementation.

It's all fanservice in the end, and people are always going to whine about changes.

..I feel like we've had this conversation before, last year.

Yes but it's a sci-fi game set in this universe and this galaxy where humanity's history is the same as humanity's history in the real world. The history mentions the wars and the landing on the moon. Suddenly turning every character bisexual is just nonsensical.

It didn't work in Dragon Age 2 and it won't work in ME3 if done.  But I've said my piece on this topic and I don't think I have anything else to add. So I shall take my leave.

But to be serious. I hope they make every one bi so everyone is happy. :)

If you are a straight male Shep and you don't want to be bi then don't hit on the male characters. Simple.

Mass Effect fans are straight, bi or gay. I think it is a smart move to try and accommodate everyone. Just like you can chose what sex and race your Shepard is, you should be able to go for who you want in a romance as well.Shepard is an undead power house of bad assness who would not want to tap that?

Just as it's nonsensical that LIs in Mass Effect don't care about Shep's moral actions. Conclusion? Romances in ME franchise were never suppoused to be realistic when it comes to Shep's ability to pursue them. They didn't restict the players from hooking up with LIs based on looks or morals/actions. So there's no reason why players should be restricted from pursuing the LIs based on Shep's gender.

If they want to go for realism, they have to do it in all areas of Shep's ability to pursue the romances. That goes for morals, actions, potentially looks as well (since it is not realistic that people don't care about looks at all) and sexual orientation. Focusing just on sexual orientation doesn't cut it.

I heard someone's uncle's aunt's nephew's brother's step-son's friend's mother's third cousin twice removed had ties to Bioware and was looking to sell this info for about $250.  I'd check it out; seems legit.
