Howdy guys, I've got a bit of a problem with my save games, namely importing them. Here's the whole sad story:

I recently upgraded from XP to Win 7 (32 bit) and as such I had to do a clean install. I've had problems with my computer before requiring similar solutions, which is why I backed up my ME1 and ME2 saves well in advance.

I reinstalled ME1 and ME2 and put my "Save" folder which I had on my backup disc in the appropriate folder for each game (C\\program files\\Mass Effect 2, or my Steam folder in ME1's case) .

Now I expected to load up ME1 + 2 and see my saves there like I had before, but no luck. I reinstalled the DLC for ME2 with no problem, but my saves aren't showing up at all. I know I put them in the right place; as I mentioned above, I've done this before (2 times if memory serves). So, any suggestions? As much as I love this game, I'm going to be really annoyed if I have to do ME2 all over again.

Saves go in C:user/documents/bioware/me(1 or 2)/saves.

And may be easier(and better because you get your user file which has settings and achievements) if you have by any chance saved the entire Bioware folder from your my documents on the original computer thus you simply replace the entire Bioware folder in that location.

As McSupersport said, by default, ME2 will store the saves under My Documents\\Bioware\\Mass Effect 2\\Saves
If you have copied the saves into the Steam folder where eth game files are located, then you wont be able to find the saves. Move them into the correct location under My Documents, and you should be fine.

I have formatted/rebuilt my PC numerous times since ME2 came out, and thats where I put my saves each time, and so far, no problems.

Oh my god, I feel like such a ******. I forgot about the folder in documents :pinched:

Duh.

Thanks guys, it worked.

And bog....your avatar is still awesome :D

Could you perhaps PM me the blog/thread about custom avatars? Not the DA one, there was another one which for the life of me I can't find.

No worries.
I wont be able to pm you the details for a while, just arrived at work, and all my bookmarks are at home.

The other method for custom avatars uses the DA:O Character Creator, but follows the same methodology as the one which uses the full copy of DA:O.
