I'm curious though. Where did she say she had never heard of Dragon Age?

If you read my review of the novel on Amazon (published about 5 months ago), you will see a fan comment. The first one. It may be hidden because a lot of people downrated it. Anyway, see that comment. It is by a Ms. Scarberry who scolds me a fair deal and then tells me she spoke to the author who claimed she had never even heard of the series to which I refer to (Dragon Age/Sten and the Warden).

I forwarded that comment to Mr. Gaider because I believed it was incongrous. In my subsequent replies- I said- IF she claimed she knew nothing of the novel, I have a PDF with her name on it that contradicts that notion. And to note that while I expressed that I disliked the book, I have at no point disputed her right to give it a good review, or called into question their right to like the book. It was quite polite. Mr. Gaider responded too. At this point, someone else claimed I was replying "angrily" and also impersonating Mr. Gaider.

Mr. Gaider's tweet this morning resurrected that topic, and that is when I posted my first rant on the topic here on BSN.

Ooooh. I was under the assumption Ms. Scarberry saw it on Twitter or in an interview.
I think someone should report her other books for plagarism as well. Or at least make sure that the reviews mention it. I'd do it myself, but I do not have an account.

Here is the comment in question:

I don't mean to be rude here, but this is totally uncalled for. I am on a team of reviewers and we would never waste our time writing a review for a book that isn't worth at least 3 *s. Think about it, if you wasted time reading a book you didn't like, why would you waste more of your time writing a review??? Not only did you waste your time, but you have hurt the author. This author didn't deserve this and you should be ashamed of yourself. After speaking to the author of this book, I don't think you wrote the review for the correct book: hemorrhaging, bodice ripper, etc. ?? The author has never even heard of the series you mention. Please stop doing this. It makes you look bad and a very talented author look bad. I think you should delete this review.

I find it hilarious that someone has tried to make out that David Gaider is a troll by saying "David Gaider has no middle name" lol Gaiders response is equally as funny "I do have a middle name"

My opinion is both this and all the positive reviews are really the "author" creating a bunch of Amazon profiles with different email addresses.  Then, she turns around and accuses Imported_Beer of impersonating David Gaider.

Well, she has mentioned that Khantara hasn't got a single review under 4 stars...

(Bit iffy for that one, though--as far as I can tell, it's about Rautu's parents.)

Wow. Just wow. Even the cover art of these books rips off Dragon Age, right down to the king's haircut.

I hope Bioware is able to do something about this.

I think what I find most ludicrous about Ms. Scarberry's post is that she thinks no one should write a review of a product and rate it less than three stars.

Ms. Scarberry's brazen request for imported_beer to take down his/her review because it did not agree with her own comes in at a close second.

I am not sure I want to see it...
If you do, I'll read it. If not, I won't care.

I find it kind of ironic that her deviantart has a journal about how bad piracy is and how stupid it would be that if SOPA passed fanart would be illegal and that then no one would be able to draw her characters since they belong to her.

her writing style but her content. Is that alright? :P I always wonder about the habit of Schlogik in stories, fanfiction or original published books (oh, there are far too many...)

Sorry, Schlogik is a German word I guess, consisting of "schlecht" (bad) and "Logik" (logic), meaning bad logic (duh!) ...... Bogic?

I stopped mocking writing style and grammar a long time ago....

Schlogik...I like it. :)

I suppose I've driven by the k!meme one too many times. Just about everything goes there, and it's basically acknowledged that one reader's horrible turn-off is another reader's fantasy, however many hemorrhages it inflicts on the characters (or the internal spellcheckers of the readers).

Anyway, I didn't mean to come here to wag my finger at people. >.< Just don't get too personal attacky or the mods might step in. :P

Explaining jokes always ruins them. Oh well, doesn't matter. x)

What I meant: was that the book titled "Khantara" should be called "Katara" as in Qunari for "Die!".... I just wanted to imply that the book should just go away and "die", which is why I thought Katara would suit the book better as a title as Khantara.

It is UNFAIR!  I am a prolific reviewer by Amazon's standards. My reviews on girly fashion and beauty products are considered extremely helpful! There are other products that I have given "not so glowing" reviews for.

And even the review that I did write on this book, I didn't insult the writer personally. I didn't question her right to write.  I was not a [expletive deleted] about it. Hey, I read a lot of stuff some of you would roll your eyes at, myself, so I don't judge. Someone wants to read about giant men and their giant parts, good for them. But even if it was entirely original, all that was there at the time the novel was published was how awesome it was, how epic the sexual tension was, how she was like Austen. If someone pointed out that there are characteristics about her writing and plot that may give some readers pause, how is a person to decide if that is something they want to peruse? People define sexual tension very differently, and people define what is pleasing to them from an erotic perspective differently. Someone needs to point out that this one may not be to everyone's taste.

Then there was the matter that I believe *strongly* that this was based on DA:O. Was I supposed to just ignore that? I don't know!

You stated your opinion and that is fine, don't worry. At least, I don't think you have to worry.

As I said, I respect you for your attitude. I cannot be as fair as you.

How do you do the talking to an Amazon dev thing? I want to tell them that all her books are plagarism.
