No way would a character of that calibre be part of optional DLC.

Not deliberately announced, anyway.

While the initial leak of the DLC character said it was a prothean, that might have changed.
From the script the prothean seems integral to the plot, there is yet an unveiled character that I think will be the DLC

If the Prothean team mate thing is true that just gave me a whole lot of info I didnt want to find out right away. -__-

Yeah I've been thinking that it's weird if they made a prothean an optional DLC squadmate.  I would think that would be a major part of the plot.

I know spoilers happen once in awhile but ppl should at least make the effort to throw up a simple spoiler warning. Its not that hard.

I think the Prothean was supposed to be the DLC character (when announced at E3 or whatever back then), but the character has to be someone else, not gonna say why

It is your own fault for walking into a clear landmine topic about a DLC character.  Granted, between Hudsons miss-information scheme and the people to abuse the leaked script.
