That's funny. I totally agree. After all, this is Dragon Age not Dragon Ball Z.

This is the Dragon Age ANIME therefore of course its going to look like an anime. Not that I liked the latest trailer, I thought it was poorly done but thats not because its anime like.

You misunderstand me. I don't have a problem with anime, as long as it can avoid the usual anime tropes that plague most of the genre. The work of Hayao Miyazaki, Katsuhiro Otomo, Mamoru Oshii, Masamune Shirow, Yukito Kishiro, Hideaki Anno (just to name a few) is all brilliant. However, their work is far from the cookie cutter norm of most anime series. If the new Dragon Age anime can achieve this, I'm all for it. As was inferred earlier, these character should not simply be superheroes. The action must carry with it a sense of real weight and urgency. If the main character is cutting through a hundred guys without so much as breaking a sweat, then it's all been boiled down to mindless action with zero substance, a la Dragon Ball.

I only read up on this a little. Did the BW folks write the script? I hope so!

They did not, unfortunately.

So I was just wondering, is Dragon Age even on the Japanese market? How well does it do there?

DAII is being translated into Japanese IIRC. Or was and doesn't need to be translated anymore. I dunno. I remember reading about that on a thread on here.

Anyway, I think it's successful enough over there.

Also, I'm hoping the anime is mature like Ghost in the Shell. I really don't want:

"It's over 9000!!"
"What, 9000?!"

Not that DBZ is a bad anime -- at least imo it isn't a bad anime -- but it's not exactly something Dragon Age should attempt to emulate if Dragon Age is going to have some media in the anime form.

According to VGchartz DA:O was released in 2011 in japan, sold 110,000 copies. And DA2 looks like it's just been released.

lol 4 dragons flying over a battlefield, and in another cut-scene one dragon hitting another in mid flight. This movie has more living dragons in it then the entire series of the game.

Something tells me that the antagonist will be able to control them, and somehow the protagonist gets one of them on her side. I also like how huge that Pride demon is compared to her at the end. Not to mention she is completely open to being smacked into a wall or floor.

No clue if those credits on the Amazon page are accurate or not, but if they are it would seem Cassandra isn't voiced by Miranda Raison, as you'd think she'd have top billing, seeing as she is the main character. Not having her voice Cassandra and getting some other person would seem like a pretty big oversight.

The probably needs to be posted here; almost 2 minutes of clips from the movie.

Theatrical Trailer - "Dragon Age - Holy War of the Blood Mage"

Somehow the blood mages captured a dragon, and the elves are back to the Tolken look.

I really hate some of the comments made. It's like bashing on Bioware has become a trend... all of them...sheep I swear <_<

It's true the trailer is receiving a lot of flack, but you are getting several groups in there. People that hate anime, the people that hate Bioware's direction, and people who hate that it is in 3D.

Afterwards you will probably see even more people who will hate it based on the lore shown, the story, animation, sound, and character design.

the people that hate Bioware's direction

The problem with this group is that most of them are there 'for the fun.' I bet a large percentage haven't played Baldur's gate, let alone KOTOR or NWN.

And this is relevant how?

The Bioware staff and culture today is very different to the company who made those games.

I haven't played any of those games. I do have played DA:O, and I despise the direction taken with DA2. So what?

I love(d?) Dragon Age, I love anime, and I still think this movie looks like total ****.

@ The two of you...

Alot of these people ACT like they've been a Bioware fan from the start, or have played every single Bioware game published.

"Oh I've played Baldur's gate One! Oh yes... remember Irenicus in that game? Bloody ******" see where I'm getting at?

I think, I just don´t understand what Dragon Age wants to sell. Is it a dark low-fantasy world? Does it want to be high-fantasy with superhuman elements? Is it a "western-style-rpg" with an "eastern-art-style" or the other way around?
