The concept of Anphillia 1 in NWN 1 was that of a RP PW that comprised of two player factions, Axfell and Cleaven, which fought a PvP war for dominance of an isolated fictional island within Forgotten Realms. Anphillia in NWN 2 continues this tradition set a few decades into the future, with the Axfell having a stronger Drow influence with many followers of Vhaeraun. Each faction controls a small amount of walled territory on opposing ends of the island with vast tracts of hostile territory in between. Your goal as a soldier in one of these armies is to defend your territory, gather resources from across the island, and attack the enemy faction wherever you find them. The module is still fairly modest in size with around 30 large areas and perhaps twice as many smaller submaps, with the most attention given to areas in and around the starting forts. The setting of Anphillia has been altered to be a bit darker, taking on a bit of Ravenloft-like atmosphere. Anphillia is becoming a more dangerous place where civilization is on the defensive as savage tribes and worse expand their domination of the island.
Much of the basic game mechanics have been combed over for glitches and imbalances with adjustments made as needed. classes have been tweaked for balance, such as granting base classes 1 bonus feat every 6 levels to keep them more on par with prestige classes. A few house rules are in place to make low level characters tougher by increasing their combat abilities, and spells have been adjusted to bring up some weaker spells and tamp down some of the more disproportinate options.
For more specific information about the server, I have a message board where I keep track of things: http://anphilliasdar....com/index.cgi?
The server uses the autodownloader and at around 300MBs the cost of trying it isn't huge. It's called "Anphillia's Dark Age 1.0" in the Role Play section; have a look, especially if you're into PvP.
