I think EDI resembles the Metropolis robot and was designed with that in mind. I dont have a problem with her design at al. Oversexualization? Attractive appeal I would say. Nothing to pick spears and stab eachother about/over.

The commentary next to the images says precisely that: they were going for the Metropolis look.

I remember some 6 months or so ago was a topic concerning rumors and speculations (or wishes) about a prothean squadmate with very loud voices 'what a stupid idea, BW would never go in this direction', 'Protos are dead!' and the like :)
lol, guess not.

When the ME3 N7 Edition was first unveiled on masseffect.com during E3 last year, it was initially described as being packaged with a DLC character and mission. For several minutes before it was edited, that DLC character was called "The Prothean". Cue speculation.

ME2 style sexpots? Not so much. And I find the sexualization of EDI...questionable. If she is a love interest I will vomit. She is physically nothing more than an advanced sex-doll.

She's not.

The most physical contact she ever commits with another person is *spoiler*a simple kiss.*spoiler*

Also, the inhabitants of Ilos who where there before the Protheans could have might as well put up those statues.

Why would they be in the prothean beacon visions then?  Since Vigil says that they had no prior knowledge of the reapers until they invaded.  But the same species of those statues were in the visions as well.  So I don't think that species were there before the protheans, I think they must have existed at the same time.

Right. This is a retcon. There is no evidence to the contrary.

There's that word again..."retcon".

Before you all jump the gun, take a good, LONG look at a still shot of the Prothean Beacon vision with the figures in it.  A real long, good look.

Notice anything?

...Anything at all?

...C'mon, I know you can spot the problem.

Okay fine, I'll spill: The figure on the right has PLANTS growing on him.  Vines, moss, and what looks to be some kind of FERN growing down his body.  The figure on the left looks like he's FUSED WITH THE FLOOR.

Fairly obvious those probably aren't Protheans.

Looking at it again, the beacon vision actually isn't all that consistent with itself.  There's quite a bit of variation when you look at individual frames:

There seems to be multiple species, one species that is shaped much like humans even. Ofc the tentacle faced ones are also clearly there. But they are not the original protheans...

I cant say anymore without spoilers from the leak.

Yeah I noticed that, but never understood it.  Why are they fused with the floor?  Also there's a Prothean beacon in ME2 that shows a collector.

Even so, there are absolutely no hard facts about the Protheans' biology besides that one part in ME2 where EDI tells us about their chromosomes.

It had been one thing if the Codex was filled with with facts about their physical appearance, but it's not.

For all we know, those statues could have been made by some drunk Prothean artist. A simple picture of a statue tells us nothing about them as a race unless it's confirmed by any source in the game (one that isn't an image) that those statues were in fact intended to be Protheans.

You can see Prothy's right arm in the new trailer, very short glimpse.

OK, look: I'm not saying it can't be explained in-universe.  I'm saying that, here in the real world, that explanation could very easily be something they came up with much later because they changed their minds about what the Protheans should look like.  It's happened in ME before, with the batarians.  The original Codex image that shipped with ME1 is not the one we have now, because the design was changed.

Based on the text in the book, this does seem to be the case.

Bioware should just admit they secretly want to make adult oriented games
I dare Bioware to make a female character with half her face burnt off who struts around in heavy armor
Or hell a male charecter that is like that. Oh wait.... Vega... hahahaha!

Point but she was still pretty and Bioware wanted to put her in a cat suit in ME 3
Good method for creating female charecter outfits. Ask yourself, would you like to see your mother/sister wearing that? Now imagine your mother in Miranda's catsuit.

You guys were doing really good about the self-censorship until recently. Beware of the banhammer if you actually start referencing anything Bioware hasn't officially released. Fair warning and all.

I gotta say that I am very surprised.

I, as a Mass Effect fan, love everything from ME Universe and I'm disgusted by the behavior of some individuals. Since the launch trailer came out there are nothing but complaints. It has started with the delay, pricing, Collector's Edition, multiplayer involvement, demo announcement, cross promotions, Origin, No-Steam, pre-order bonuses, figurines' DLCs, the book's DLC, ME: Deception inaccuracy and now this? Come on people, stop all the hatred.

The game's demo isn't even out yet and you are judging by some scans? BioWare has shown you the dots, wait till March 6 to connect them and then judge. You can be glad that ME3 is made by those who did ME1 & ME2 and is not like COD or Uncharted!

So you seem to think that female characters have to wear impractical, ridiculous outfits whose sole existence is for sex appeal for the fans, otherwise they are ugly?

Great false dilemmas, Batman!

That art book is expensive. Getting the CE of Mass Effect 3 is a pretty good discount.

It's not the same book. The one from the CE is I think 78 pages, the Art of ME3.

The book they're referring to is well over 200 pages, AFAIK, and contains art from the other 2 games and random comcepts for the universe.
