So is anyone with me that EDI's body should've been a hologram instead.

That'd be just pointless, and I would bet that people would complain about it being a sexual thing there too.

And I'd agree with them.

Then again, EDI looked like a talking vagina in ME2, so what the hell.

The whole EDI thing is facepalm worthy, but since it's in the game..meh. Here's to hoping I won't spend all the time on the Normandy cringing.

Don't worry, it's not like anybody's forcing you to use her. She's even a class that's already represented on the squad, so she's kind of redundant anyway.

A class Bekkael will no doubt have covered more often than not, too, if I know her half as well as I think I do.

Me, I'll be using EDI pretty regularly. But I tend to use everyone in the games, so that's not really a big leap.

She's going to mainly use tech powers I imagine?

The Vagina Monologues called. They want their setpiece back.

am I the only one that thinks its a brilliant idea to give EDI a body?

No. Apparently, not a lot of people here have ever heard of Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda, either. Image IPB

It's not that I've not heard of it. It's just that it sucked. One of the worst space operas I've ever had the displeasure of trying out.

I don't know, there were a few episodes which didn't make me lose any brain cells.

Mostly toward the beginning, I'd imagine.

Yep. "Hey look this show might be an interesting science fiction progra-

Nope."

How would that have made any sense, though?

Holograms have no hands.

Easy. Replace blue ball with sexy hologram. EDI is still in Normandy, but gets boobs. :wizard:

Wait, what? Isn't Bekkael obsessed with Kaidan? Did EDI turn into a biotic when I wasn't looking?

Well it not like I'm a bigot towards the thought of a holographic edi. But building a body is a lot of resources so it would seem cheaper just to have a holographic model.

Which kind of reminds me of this when I was a kid. Does anyone remember Toonami were that guy had a holographic avatar of the ship AI.

But not physical boobs.

That's a dealbreaker.

It's... well, no, she didn't. She's definitely tech-focused, but AVPen's relentless digging-into of the Powers information from the leaked beta's files confirmed my long-held suspicions that EDI would be a tech-based Sentinel, for lack of a better term. She's no biotic, not at all, but she has an armor-esque gig, her tech abilities are Sentinel-esque and... yeah.

Compared to Samara, Benezia, and Miranda, EDI's design is rather tame. If anything, she reminds me of Avina, except EDI has a physical form rather than a "digital" one. I wouldn't find it surprising that V.I.s with a woman personality are designed with certain sex appeals in mind, so it probably helps sell EDI to the outside.

Then again, unless it's an in your face design choice like Morrigan or in Soul Caliber games, I don't really pay attention to anything that is trying to appeal in that fashion.

Kaidan is a Sentinel, remember? He has tech and biotic. The perfect combo.

No, it's amazing. I love it.

Excellent move, BioWare.

Well, I'm being an extremist in this post, admittedly. Some Jokerites have definitely gotten me thinking it would have been just as cool -- without treading on anyone's toes, too -- to have done things differently but still somewhat similarly.

But I love it as-is, mostly.

They don't build the body themselves, though - they find it on a mission.

And if you're talking about resources from the developers point of view - a holographic model requires just as much work as a physical model.

All EDI had to be was installed in that body.  The rest of the bill was graciously footed by the enemy.

Yeah, but EDI, although more of a combat/tech sort of hybrid, is by no means an Infiltrator. Her powers, if they remain as they appeared in the datamined leaks, have much more in common with those of a Sentinel's. It makes sense though. You've got a backup Soldier and a backup Sentinel. And considering how many people killed Kaidan on Virmire, having a backup Sentinel isn't such a bad idea. And considering how few people killed Garrus during the Suicide Mission, lacking a backup Infiltrator isn't so bad.

It's not like it's a move we couldn't have predicted, EDI and Joker were already displaying chemistry by the end of ME2.

If you consider a variation of the Sentinel's Tech Armor poorer than Legion's Geth Shield Boost, sure. I sure don't.

That's actually the thing that bugs me about EDI the most. I support the Jokerites point of view.

Another negative thing about having a body like that: She'll instantly lose at strip poker.

Indeed. She's quite tame by comparison. Delights me to see that they didn't go as over-the-top with it as I'd feared.

It's fine. Most do. Myself, I've never found any of my Shepards looking at Joker in such a way, and I thought the Joker/EDI chemistry by ME2's conclusion was a strong point of the series.
