So... why is my Ship's brain running around in a hypersexualized body?
Last I heard, EDI's body was my ship. I loved that. Now it's just another basement dweller/prepubescent kid's wet dream. Sigh... Shame on you, BioWare, shame on you. I dislike the idea of EDI having a body from the get-go because to me, the SR-2 was EDI's body, but I'd be able to tolerate a LOT better if it wasn't so obviously gratuitous sexualization.
If you wanted to give us an AI in human-like proportions, give back Legion.
Sincerely, a disappointed fan.

It's really weird to see the slide from women wearing practical armor in Mass Effect to the fans literally having to beg Bioware to put Ashley in practical armor for Mass Effect 3.

Thats why I liked Ashley shes a down to earth girl, who I rather enjoyed as a character. To have her all dolled up like Miranda changed her character for me. I want her back in her white in pink armour ,quoting poems like in mass effect.
But eh thats may just be me.

Edi looks awful, but I could tolerate her if they'd left Ashley alone. Though with Ashley it's not so much her attire as much as her face looks completely different.
The character I ship her with probably wouldn't recognise her when they run into each other again. Hmmmm, that's probably why Shepard doesn't talk to her in the demo, her looks have changed so drastically that she's practically unrecognisable. Shepard was probably thinking "Who are you? Have we met?"
Hopefully by the time my second playthrough comes around (I saved Kaidan in my first playthrough of ME1) someone will have a mod to improve Ashley's looks so she doesn't look like a pornstar with a botched facial any more.

But in Mass Effect 3, we have Kaidan, who has heavy armor and looked ready for combat. And Ashley... wearing that stupid catsuit. It's just getting infuriating when you go back to Mass Effect and see Ashley and Liara wearing actual armor. EDI is just the icing on the cake. Why the hell do we have to keep yelling at Bioware about this stuff?

You do realize that the catsuit is only worn when you first meet her and that she wears armor afterward, right?

So what? She'll still have that freaky botox, pouty-lipped face

Not really.
The original Mass Effect: Benezia. Asari race in general. I also wonder who is this strong female avatar you mentioned. Certainly not Ashley.

I'm guessing strong female avatar refers to FemShep, the traditional male warrior as a woman would be Ashley and the traditional female mage as a man would be Kaidan as biotics are the ME version of magic

Its wrong because its only NEEDED for games aimed at gamers who have just discovered they get funny feelings hen they look at boobs.

There isn't a need for it in the ME universe. What started out as a series that had the traditional male warrior as a woman, and the traditonal female mage as a man and pushed a strong powerful female avatar has suddenly looked like they've done a backflip.

ME was a series that started off without feeling the need to reduce female characters to excessive objectification. Now - for no reason what so ever, and without any explanation - they suddenly NEED to have them sexed up?

Generally speaking I thought we were heading away from this kind of backwards mentality.

so wait you find edi to be over sexualized and others just arent?

look bro im a guy myself but if you dont like the look i understand but if your going to keep hyping the omg there oversexualizing thing i hope you understand that a few other charaters can be said for the same thing.

so dont make it sound like edi is the only one

ME and tons of over sexualised characters. Miranda, Jack, Samara and now Ashley and Edi.
Oh and let's not forget Benezia and her boob window, though her boobs looked a bit weird.

I'm guessing the lesbian love interest (Samantha or something, isn't it?) will be sexed up as well

This is quite frankly embarassing. After skin-tight catsuits, now we have ''sexy'' robots with boobs? This veers straight into Austin Powers territory, and remember that this was a parody. Why should EDI be alongside Shepard anyways? She's the ship's AI; far more useful managing it than firing a gun or whatever the hell they will have her attack with.

If if fears come true and she ends up with Joker *shudders* then I'm afraid I will not be able to take Bioware seriously anymore. First ME2, then DA2, then catsuit!Ashley, now this? Are they trying to win a competition in bad taste with the rest of the games industry? Because they're starting to gain an ugly head start.

"Completely changed her appearance"? When?

Her skin is paler than it was in the first two games, she looks like she's used botox, her lips are bigger, her boobs are at least twice the size they were on Horizon

Maybe Robo!Edi should have a scene with Bailey

Yes the nerd rage over this is amusing I have too say...

and that only thing they did to Ashley was let her hair down and get her out the horrendous pink armor.

So I take it you have no problem with them lightening her skin and giving her cosmetic surgery?

That concept art seems... kind of embarrassing, to be honest. Though better than expected. I honestly expected them to pull out a 'robot' that looks exactly like a human (with skin, hair, etc) as an excuse to have an exact replica of Tricia Helfer in the game.

But why is it all the females (or even just female-voiced) characters have to be sexy? It's more balanced with the males. You've got Kaidan, Jacob and Thane who clearly are, whilst Wrex, Grunt, Mordin and Zaeed clearly aren't. Unless maybe they are? Maybe I'm just completely insane.

I'm of the oppinion that we're all just a little insane as it is... it is only a game after all. Granted one that many of us have spent 100's of hours playing, but a game none the less.

I know right.... SMH. I from the way people were reaction I was half expecting the aclove to some kind of the  large  phallus that she jacks in between her legs to hook up to the  Normandy  or something crazy and fetishized like,, but this... Get real.

If I wanted to  start a fire storm  I could start complaining about how Jacob got reduced down to nothing  but another Mandingo character  for a space romance to appaise a fan base... but naaa I won't go there.

According to the continuity true Artificial Intelligences are made up of a unique combination of hardware and software. It's the defining difference between Geth (who are 100% software) and AIs.

So that means that EDI is both her quantum bluebox in the Normandy's AI core as well as her programming. So wouldn't "switching platforms" as Legion would put it essentially change her programming?

This is why EDI (squadmate) makes zero sense in Msss Effect 3.

Edit: At my theory/argument will be completey ignored. Maybe I should add in something controversial?

Oh for pete's sake.  Jacob and Thane are what? 2 males out of seven [excluding Legion]? Meanwhile almost every single female squadmate is sexualized even if she's not an LI!

To me that's an issue.

This uproar about EDI getting a body is hilarious, considering everyone and their mothers called it as soon as we found out about her and her nature leading up to ME2's release.

In the leak she literally gets "uploaded" into the fembot. That would essentially kill EDI. Like a "soul" leaving a "body" and jumping into another "body".

What's a soul anyway ? And how can you apply that concept in fictional computing ?
