So that means that EDI is both her quantum bluebox in the Normandy's AI core as well as her programming. So wouldn't "switching platforms" as Legion would put it essentially change her programming?
 

She don't switch platforms, she just controls the Fembot from distance....you guys forgot her multitasking abilities ? we are talking about one of the greatest AI of the MEverse !

Guess that means the leak was wrong then. If it's explicitly put that way in the actual game, then the in-game explanation is also wrong.

Ok so let me put it that way: we actually don't know how EDI gets "uploaded" maybe it fits the lore, maybe not but who knows ?
And it will certainly not be answerd by making "soul metaphors", so we have to wait the actual game to see if it's good or BS

Ohhhh lets talk about good ole  Jacob... 

So... people Complained about Kaiden... so they take Jacob - one of the few  black male characters in video games that had his own lead... Mass Effect Galaxy.   In Mass Effect 2  he is boiled down  to... Fem Shepards Space Mandingo with    space suit crouch to top it off.    

Silence.....  EDI  gets a body....  OUTRAGE. 


This  "scandal" s a complete  joke.

Yeah, I agree with the sentiments about EDI's body looking ridiculous. The fact that the art book states "we needed to make EDI look sexy" is pretty telling about where their minds were at when they designed her. "Let's see... fans want a Joker/EDI romance... EDI is played by a sexy actress with a huge nerd fanbase... eye candy for the player... hmmmmm. Oh, got it! Naked female chick with a chrome body! Teehee, we're doing scifi!"

Jesus, what the heck happened between ME1 and ME3? Stilettos, nipple straps, naked fembots... at least Bioware tried to limit it to Benezia in the first game. Now, it's like smallpox!

BW was astonishingly one of the few developers who tended to keep sexualized females to a minimum or even better tended to keep it where it was releveant LIKE SAY A ROMANCE SCENE. Seeing them go towards the Female MUST BE SEXY! route is saddening.

Well, we just have to read up on the ME1 codex entry on AIs.

According to the Codex, the data files that make up an AI's personality are stored in a device called a "blue box", which is a type of quantum computer. Without a blue box, an AI cannot function. Any attempt to copy these files into a different blue box will result in a completely different and unpredictable personality. (Hey look, it's the ultimate form of DRM!)

The way I see it, there is only one way for EDI to actually be transferred to a different body, and that's to have her blue box physically moved out of the Normandy's core and into the Terminatrix's body. The only other option is to give her the ability to remotely "assume control" of other devices, like that comm terminal on the Collector ship, which she used to display her hologram avatar and project her voice. However, a true upload (like uploading a file from your hard drive onto a server) is not possible for an AI.

EDI would have probably picked a sexy look herself.

what does she like to do? screw with joker's mind and seeing his reactions.

she has access to joker's history searches on the extranet, the asari porno ones.

sooner or later she would use a *skin* mimmicking these to further her own goals of being playful with jeff

Again, we don't know the details of that "upload", the ME1 codex don't help that much since it only mentions transferring data from a blue box an other, but the EDI's case isn't explained yet, so we might as well wait and see.

But since EDI can control an avatar which is what that body is, seems like an oppertunity to create different avatars for EDI, perhaps DLC.
