I feel kind of ambivalent about this. I really liked EDI in Mass Effect 2 - she was a very well-written and interesting character; an AI with a subtle sense of humour and what seemed to be genuine human emotions. I'm glad to see that she'll play a major role in ME3, but turning her into a sexy fembot just seems like a blatant attempt to titillate certain members of the fanbase and I feel a little bit patronised by this.
though you could see her doing it of her own accord in order to make jeff more efficient at his work (he works well under pressure or so she says :innocent:)

I don't think so.
You just watch....not only will we have this version of EDI, we will have another one that only Shepard can see. This one seems to believe it is an "Angel" and is very religious. Talks about Shepard being the hand of God or something.....

The actual experience probably only felt like a couple nights to him but, you're right, waking up that far into into the future sucks. Everyone and everything the Prothean has ever known is gone. I don't about others, but there's no way I could cope with an experience like that.

and amazingly enough he'll probably talk perfect english, unless he is psychic and doesn't need a spoken language.

I think only Shepard will understand him in the beggining since he has the Cipher knowledge.

Ashley doesn't look all that pale in the most recent screenshot. Lighting is important.lucidfox wrote...

"Completely changed her appearance"? When?
Compare ME1 Ashley to ME3 Ashley.
ME1: relatively dark skin, Latina-style, pragmatic short hair - as expected from a soldier, no makeup, natural eyebrows.
ME3: pale white skin, loose shoulder-long hair (really suitable for running and shooting), thick glossy lipstick, painted eyebrows.
They sexed her up.

A lot scfi shows reveals the capabilities of synthetics as beyond human, wouldn't you want that as ally.
Here is a few examples: Data in the star trek series, advanced replicators in Stargate series and the one that I think has the most relevance to EDI the avatar of the main ship in the Andromeda series.
Seeing how powerfull these things are displayed as, is it that bad to one in your team?
or
Is these complaints mainly about it have a female body?
Which is it,

Is it a coincidence that EDI's voice actor played a human looking robot who had a sexual appearance in another scfi setting?
I don't think so.

Knowing me though, it will all make sense once I play the game.

The body was designed to sneak into places when it had skin, so who ever created this body wanted it to be able to interact with humans and influence them which is easier if the target find you attractive.
If EDI decides it prefers it without it skin then that EDI choice, most likely use it to be a greater asset to Shep's mission. I think my comparison earlier to Andromeda was a good choice, since it shows how a AI of ship would use a robotic body.
Also it should be fun to see how EDI play around with Jokers mind like it did in ME2.

What are you talking bout Willis? EDI looks awsome!
I like the design of both EDI and the *ahem* other one.
She reminds me of some old retro 1950s chrome robot concept of the future, which has a certain nostalgic charm.
And this talk of "oversexualization" I just cant agree with. Some are overreacting in this case imo. Granted its your opinion, but It is not mine. I Think her form in the art book is very much in line with my thoughts of a robot modeled on a female form, and since EDI is thought of as female, It all seems to follow. The level of sexualization seems wholly appropriate in this case imo.
Just because her form is "Technically" naked, and she has hips and boob shaped lumps, does not demean her. To think it lowers her in my opinion is to show another form of sexism, a strange oversenitive conservative sex-averse thinking that says that the female form is wrong or that admiring it is wrong or that person being physically fit is wrong. Thats the message Im getting from some people.

I expected it when I first heard that the Normandy was an Alliance Vessel in ME 3.
Either EDI got a body, or gets destroyed utterly.
What actually going to be interesting is in about 70 or so years (post ME 3). Humans age, robots don't.
