I was confused about that too, but I believe those are Prothean Husks. When I first saw the Prothean codex at the beginning of ME2, I figured that we might find them on some planet. But after finishing the main story and all the other missions, I was disapointed to find nothing relating to the picture anywhere (or Prothean Husks.) This leads me to believe that there will be a DLC mission involving their remnants as Husks. It's possible, I mean, why else would they include that picture? And is it just me, or is the background of the picture Ilos? It could be another world, but the enviroment and the rusty skyline all seem like it. That would be kinda odd considering that it was spared during the Reapers genocide, and the fact they weren't present in the first game. Anyway this is all speculation, and hopefully we'll get some answers soon

I don't know how interested I am in having a Prothean squad mate, but I would like to see some kind of battle cut scene showing the Prothean fleet getting crushed by the reapers. Or like a lost type flash back to the Reaper backstory and ending with the Prothean destruction, like them setting up their stasis units. It could start with the Leviathan Of Dis as King of the Reapers during the Big Bang and then go to present day where Harbinger along with Leviathan enters space with his other Reapers fleet and then ME3 begins.

In a Universe where Quarians have pleasure programs built into their suits, Asari dancing around in skimpy clothing at virtually every single bar, Hanar/Asari porn games, and Fornax the idea of an EDI fembot is bad? Look at Avina VI in Citadel, she looks sexual too but no one throws a fit about that.

I'm not really seeing the comparison with Avina.

It looks woman shaped, but that's it. It is just an information terminal. It's not about to be taken into a back room and bonk a horny human.

For us in 2012, yes it would seem that way. But in 2185 seeing bots like that are normal, so it wouldn't have the shock value it does now. It makes sense to me and I'll apply that logic when I play, hopefully the rest can find some peace in it, cuz it's not changing.

The EDI thing doesn't bother me as much as the Prothean not even looking how they were depicted in ME1 at all. It's like the designers reverse-engineered a Collector after the revelation in ME2 and forgot completely that protheans already had a design in the original game.

I think they probably had designs based on the Ilos statues, but either couldn't get them to animate properly or just thought the more Collector-esque model looked better.

It's not like the new design looks bad or anything, but yeah, I get why it's weird.

Didn't they explain it that the statues were from a previous race on Illos? Or another member of the Prothean Empire? I prefer the Collector-esque look anyway.

The Prothean Tells you in the game that they weren't the original inhabitants of Ilos so the statues maybe of the original race and mistaken for Protheans.

It's not really bad per se, just inconsistent. Might not have been so bad if they'd gone with a rounder, upper head like all the statues and visions depicted the Protheans instead of that obviously Collector-inspirted shape. So we've either got a silly ret-con on our hands, or there's some reason for the inconsistency. I'd be interested in hearing what that is.
