LMFAO! I love how angry some people are! That's right ****es, Edi has ****** and Ashley looks sexy! Eat your hearts out.

Don't splash testosterone on me, please.

I'm gay so as far as I'm concerned, they could slap a vagina on EDI's forehead. I don't care if EDI is a tin can with ****** or that Ashley let her hair down and wears make-up. It's just a game, get over it you prissy ****es. All you do is ****ing complain over ****** and other silly **** like that.

You are my new hero... I just wanted to let you know  that.

The story of EDI becoming a seductress is the driving force of the entire series? That's news to me.

Wow people are going absolutely bat**** insane over this aren't they.  The idea of AIs interacting with organics is indeed the focus point of the entire series and EDI is just one type of AI just like Legion is another and the Reapers are a third variant.

Though Bioware's bipolar treatment of female characters hasn't really been helping.

Fixed.

Were you here when every woman in Dragon Age 2 was going to have the same breast size as Isabela?

I love that we can't have a debate on BSN without it stooping to petty insults.

I'd be more concerned about how they will explain the OTHER guy. You know who I mean
So is EDI the squadmate known as Vigilante or is that some exotic bird man from the future?

I already knew about this from the leak. I still find it a bad idea, mainly because I think the concept itself alone is ridiculous. Too bad it's not a 'so bad it's good' thing for me. But what can I do?

I wonder if the fanfiction was a factor for the existence of this character? I've heard there's some really weird fanfiction about Mass Effect.

pretty much. one wants to use us as more building materials for new reapers, the other wants the geth to achieve enlightnment and the other wants to understand humans and live beside them as an equal.

Has to be. I don't read them but I have heard some weird things... that's why I stay away from those forums.
But inspiration for this directions has to became somewhere and I think fanfic is likely culprit.

There is a fanfic with this exact premise. Except they also have children.

But it is not the worst. We shall never speak of the worst Mass Effect fanfic. To gaze upon it is to drive one mad.

People are really not going to buy ME3... Because of EDI's design? Really? REALLY?! What in the...

Okay, every one of you people that aren't buying it because you don't like a character design, you are pathetic. The very defintion of it. In fact, we should submit your usernames to a dictionary so that your username is next to the word as an example of the word.

My goodness, I knew this fanbase was dumb sometimes but... Holy crap. This is fandumb on a level I haven't seen for a long time.

No, because by the time I registered on BSN, DA2 was already released. And while I did play DA2, I don't care about it enough to comment about it on forums.

What I mean by "bipolar" is that for every progressive development for BioWare's female characters (actually giving them depth as people, avoiding common sexist cliches, having women on the team to watch out for excesses in the writing) once in a while there comes something facepalmworthy - like the breast sizes in DA2, or Samara's outfit, or the "reimagining" of the default female Shepard, or this.

If that's truly the case, then may ME3 be the end of the franchise.

If you give the franchise - progressive in many ways - less credit than it deserves, it doesn't mean everyone else should do the same.

Ugh the part that annoys me is in the description where they say that EDI had to be "sexy"
To me, personally, EDI is the Normandy. I seriously hope there is the option to not have EDI in a sexbot body ¬_¬

No, no, you don't understand ... it must be the piece of  hard  sci-fiction I demand  that supports all my views about  the future and humanity, aliens, sexuality and character design. It most also be platform for me to speak out against everything I hate about everything ...if not I will cancel my pre-order.  Mass Effect is not entertainment it is serious buisness that will change the world.   ;)

I have seen this in TV / Movie productions. I think the most famous (ironically) example of that is Number 6 in new Battle Star Galactica. Build up for her character(s) was great but at some point she became just sexy doll, eye candy participating in orgies on Cylon basestar.

There are other things, I got really weird wibe from the Tali dossiers in Lair of the Shadow Broker DLC. While I understand their funny momentum, it was totally unnesserary.

I'm no way a feminist, but I can understand if women feel this kind of character treatment... a bit hostile perhaps.

I'm sorry, you guys may not like it. But if Seth Green wants some bootay for his character, Seth Green GETS booty for his character.

Granted, it's the equivalent of a sentient blow-up doll, but comon, it's Joker - You didn't think he was going to score anything real, did you?

That said... now mister brittle bones gets to blue ball over a metal woman. It'll be hilarious to see how that works out for him.

The funny part is I love Mass Effect for it's b-movie nature. I just dislike how they are changing characters to make them "sexier" when it is unneeded. As much as I disliked Miranda and Samara's outfits for instance, I couldn't really complain much about it. Because Jacob and Thane were just as sexualized. But when you start taking established characters (Ashley, EDI) and turning them into something else then I start getting concerned.

One other question that no one seems to have bothered asking:
How exactly was her blue box removed from the Normandy's AI core and placed in a humanoid body? How big is the darn thing, anyway?

I will say this though despite the fact I like EDI's new look...

I dare Bioware to make a female character with half her face burnt off who struts around in heavy armor
A female Phantom of the Opera if you will.
Or hell a male charecter that is like that. Oh wait.... Vega... hahahaha!
