Haha, nice blog! :D

But this works both ways. As much as other classes need to know how to support a vanguard, the vanguard player needs to be responsible and work with the team, otherwise they won't be making many friends - important when they're halfway across the map asking to be revived, and you say, "it's your own fault". ;)

So we're locked into certain classes depending on which race we choose?

Reading the title almost sounds like a sort of self-help book. Incoming random nonsense I threw together in 5 minutes.

Love. This.

The article is awesome as well; it was entertaining. I will now forever refer to the Vanguard as a rhinoceros.

Vigg, you know that article was talking about your Shep. Just sayin'.

I was already going to play a Vanguard in the MP at some point...my secondary femShep is a Vanguard, and it's a very fun class to play. Now I'm even more excited to do so.

Though, I will probably start out with my "comfortable class," Infiltrator, so I can get used to this multiplayer thing. I know for sure I'm going to be playing with at least one friend who is a Vanguard, so I think I'm going to go, "Hey, hey Peps! Go charge that annoying n00b out of cover so I can git 'im!" *Lines up a headshot, but Vanguard takes him out with biotic PAWNCH* "Dangit..."

Can't fit 3 fingers in this Vanguard.

*cringe* WHY would you put that mental image in my head?!?! :pinched:

I  must agree with this. Image IPB

Supposedly, yes.

Makes sense kinda... I mean, you couldn't really have an Adept Geth, now could you (assuming the Geth are made playable later).

What's all this about 'supporting your vanguard'?

4 Vanguards. No 'support' all decimation.

See, I only play Vanguard, ever. Tried playing a default Soldier Shepard and gave up after two hours. Why? I'll tell you why. Because of manliness. You can't be expected to hide behind cover with your squad mates when the enemy is standing there out of cover, mocking you, showing you just how much of a coward you are by hiding from them and trying to justify it by calling it "strategy". No, as Vanguards we do what is right, what is honorable. We meet the enemy face to face, and if it were possible, I'm sure my Vanguard brothers would agree that the use of bare hands would be readily exercised. So engineers, adepts, soldiers, sentinels, the other one; don't look at your Vanguard team mates as fools, rushing in where "strategists" fear to tread, join them. Join them in their campaign to bring a sense of rugged manliness to the battlefield.

There is a diffrence between playing tough and playing smart. Sure you can charge in with the Vanguards, but I assume Vanguards are bulit to withstand damage and do more damage close range, more than Soliders Infiltrater ECT.

If you want to charge in blindly go ahead you could make an excelent distraction, but dont expect a Rez if there are still multiple emiems in the area.

Of course it was! His nickname isn't "Sir Charge-A-Lot" for nothing. XD

Can't wait to play MP as a Vanguard...I'm gonna be all over the place.

Vanguard is my least favorite class. Guess I'll let him lure hostiles out and stick to sniping.

Ressurect

As in bringing someone back from the dead.

That was a funny read, but I can see the Vanguard play an integral role in many teams if the tactics and strategies work together.

Here's one thought I had, based on Real-life Fireteams. The Ready Team Fire Assist concept.

So the squad:

Ready - Krogan Sentinel
Team - Salarian Infiltrator
Fire - Asari Adept
Assist - Krogan Vanguard

So the idea of this team set is having the Krogan Sentinel work to be the anchor or anvil for the rest of the team. So the "Ready" is going to be making first contact with the enemy, to set favorable positions for the rest of the unit, so drawing aggro so to speak as the Tank, a la DA:O.

The "Team" is the leader and will counter any initial salvo by the enemy and with Cloak can reposition and flank when needed, the first hammer, in the strategy.

The "Fire" is there to be second in command and control the enemy. I'm not entirely familiar with how the powers work, but this team member builds off of what the "Ready" is doing and will try to focus on enemies that bunch up and those with shields if memory serves.

"Assist" is the free-lancer / wildcard in the unit that will have mop up duty and likely finish off most mooks on his or her own that are engaging the first three and thus be the second hammer in the unit.

This setup and strategy possibly makes this setup very flexible and resilient to complete as many varied waves as possible.

I'm not sure I follow...

If you're asking what I think you're asking, it's like in a lot of co-op campaigns. You don't automatically "re-spawn," someone on your team has to come and resurrect you. It's not like a massive multiplayer where you have random spawn points and you have to run and find your team again. In co-ops, if one person dies, they stay dead until their buddy comes and gets them. If everyone dies, the team fails the level. If you could just automatically respawn, then your team would be invincible...get it?

That help any?
