Do I think the fact that it's not available yet is stupid and annoying? Yes. And the fact that something stalled them for hours for simply enabling files to download off their servers, something their entire business does every day, smacks of managerial incompentence.AnrimGrimdawn wrote...
@kevlarcardhouse, but now you are here! Move on with your life!!! Why are you even going to play DA:O if you've moved on? Do you know the min is like 60+ hours?! That sounds like a commitment to me bud.And if there >>happen<< to be crippling bugs, we might hear from you again. CHEERS
But I don't see why I need to get overly upset and have a fit about it. It's not like the game has been released for a week and you still can't download it. It's not like they're coming to your house and kicking your dog while you wait. Just go for a walk or play another game or something.
My point was you're getting extremely upset over something so inconsequential.

It's an 8-10 gig download depending on each service's compression format. My Steam pre-load was around 10 and unpacked to 15, it's not a mystery or something to be "scared" about. D2D has a website full of FAQS about canceling pre-orders and their policies, screaming that they're liars and thieves isn't true at all.
The pre-load is a PERK. They are not canceling it in any way, shape, or form....it's just been delayed due to a technical error. It's happened before, and it has always gone live that day, anyway. If your download speeds are so slow that a few hours when you'll have at LEAST an entire day tomorrow to download it are a genuine concern, perhaps digital distribution isn't for you? I understand that the availability of broadband can be low in areas, I was there myself a few years ago. But...you knew the game was advertised at ~20 gigs when you pre-ordered, that is your fault, not D2D or Steam or whoever else you'd like to get angry at.
Nobody is forcing you to check over and over and over and over, that is entirely YOU. Do laundry, read a book, watch tv, listen to music...SOMETHING. Come back and check the d2d twitter occasionally. This snarling rage and taking it out on posters on the BIOWARE forums, who have no power to help you whatsoever, doesn't do anything but make you look like a fool.
Seriously. Just chill out.
They have pages? Show me one and I will recant EVERYTHING.
Please post the link.

Found one in less than two minutes.
Game not yet activated applies to preorders, by the way.

Ok, worked the second time I tried it.

Okay, if I ordered it for half price at some unknown site, I'd call mysef dumb. But I ordered the deluxe edition
for more than the PHYSICAL product costs from a WELL KNOWN website and am tired of hearing about
Steam users being done with their preload. Is it their fault? No
It's mine.
For trusting D2D.

They have to set guidelines in order to keep frivolous requests for refunds out, like "I don't like this game after one day of playing, I want a refund." Rules are always made to be broken, classified on that support site as "special circumstances," but they have to exist in some form. D2D is harsher than Steam on pre-orders (the 60 days things is pretty dumb), but both have always given me a refund when I've canceled games in the past. Usually within 1 or 2 business days.
And good luck returning physical copies once they've been opened, even if the software causes your PC to melt into a pile of goo.

How about "You lied about your preload on every major website that previews games in order to steal
business from others but do not in fact offer preloads."
Is that a good reason?

I would welcome any explanation as to how the retailer suffers some undue burden from said cancellation.

I give up trying to reason with you.
Please e-mail their customer support and demand a refund for the psychological trauma of having to wait 5-6 hours to pre-load a game that doesn't come out for two days and simply stick with retail.

D2D is still obligated to follow the laws of sale. They are a store and the 60 day thing is simply bull. If you want to cancel, you can cancel whenever you want. if they refuse, slap them with the articles and they will in 99% cases listen to you.
So, would I have to sue them, and spend more than 60 dollars to do so?
They base their business model on it not being worth the hassle.

There are however strict laws when it comes to companies selling products over the internet. When dealing with international sales, even international laws apply. So it stands well known, that they cannot charge your creditcard until the product is actually dispatched (pre-load etc). The buyer in this case, has mroe rights then the seller. If they wish to cancel, they have that right to and even IGN (D2D) has no right, to not give them that change.
Refusing to give customers that right is a bad idea, as it goes against the law.

Nope, just look up the articles regarding companies and selling of products both international and local. linking these articles within the email you are sending should in most cases be enough.
What a lot of people dont know, is that stores tend to set there own rules, but even so these rules are guidelines for the store, they have no merit when it comes to the law. For example, when i bought my xbox 360 the first time in the store, there is a 90 day policy were the store takes it back. and a 2 year warrenty, however law states that, the store is responsible for these 2 years regardless of the 90 day policy.
I slapped the store with the article, and they gave me a new xbox after mine broke down, 1 year after purchase.

Thank you. Care to provide a link to the information? I keep believing the worst, that companies can get away with things like this.

Nobody in this thread is claiming that D2D should be able to deny canceling pre-orders. Even in my post that you quoted, I said the 60 days excuse was stupid. If it had been me in that case, I would have filed a complaint with my credit card company. That is something to get upset about.
The problem with THIS particular complaint and this particular thread, is that the OP is acting completely irrational over a delay caused by a technical error, and acting generally unpleasant to anybody that tries to say otherwise (calling another poster a "shill"). They didn't lie or steal anything. They gave status updates on twitter, D2D's website, and even apologized for the delay in the old forums. The pre-load is currently working just fine after they got the kinks worked out......as we all tried to tell him they would.
Customers like him are the reason the guideline rules for refunds exist.
