I'm really hoping to see more of this guy, but from what I hear he gets killed in the Reaper invasion.  Compared to most Alliance leadership, Hackett seems to really trust Shepard.

Could you put a spoiler warning in the title or something? Because I really wish I hadn't just read that.

Alright, thanks. Personally, I'd like to see more of him, too. I'm expecting him to be at the trial, considering he's the one who asked Shep to go save Kenson and he's the head of the Alliance (isn't he?) So we'll almost for sure see him in the intro.

From what I read so far he's going to play a bigger role in the game. But I don't know anything about his death - and his replacement.

*Spoiler Warning*

When I watched the leaked Beta, it said they had lost contact with Hackett's fleet. So i don think he will be at Shepard's trial.

It says in the video that EVERYBODY in the trial EXCEPT Shepard dies when the building gets hit by the reapers.

If you heard Hackett has a bigger role in the story, then I hope your right.

If you guys had the Shadow Lair Broker DLC from ME2, youll get to see Hacketts personal info. The letter he got from the Alliance asking him to turn in Shepard for questioning, and Hackett says

Dear Alliance,

Request denied.

Admiral Hackett

He is beast

Hackett isn't dead. He's a major player in ME3 he contacts Shepard many times through the story. Have you seen the new gametrailers episode? He's in it talking to Shepard during events clearly after Earth's invasion. Don't post stuff like this without confirmation dude. You make people think a good character is doomed.

highlight to read spoilers from leaked beta:

also the actually trial is not in the leaked beta. what Shepard and Anderson go to is the defense comity to discuss if Shepard knows why their outpost on the moon went silent, which they suspect is the Reapers.also Chris Prestiely confims that there is an actual trial at the start of the game:Hah Yes Reapers wrote...There is no trial.Yes there is. It's how you start the game.forum where he says this :Dhttp://social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/323/index/9078802/1#9078933

No Admiral Steven Hackett is alive and well. He is the one that sends Shepard to Mars.

I don't know how to do the spoiler hiding thing, but Anderson mentions to shepard that Hackett is moblizing the fleets

More hackett would be awesome, he is one of my favorite characters. He's so calm but at the same time you know he could probably kill damn near anything.

I'm pretty sure that Hackett will be around in ME3. The loss of contact with him was likely due to jammed communications. Hackett has been around the block a few times and I would be surprised if the Reapers took him out so easily.

Well, that doesn't happen.

Anderson lives even to the end of game.

Exactly.
Anderson gets some more screen time and if we're lucky, Hackett will get some too. I really like Hackett. Dunno why - think mostly because of ME2 and Arrival: he and Anderson are the only two high ranking officers in the Alliance still trusting Shepard. And somehow I think Hackett had some influence on Shepard for N7 program as well - it's not in the lore, but there has to be a reason why Hackett is a strong supporter of Shepard.

Just out of curiosity. Something I've been tossing up since I first saw Hackett in Arrival for the first time.

Is Hackett Spacer Shepard's father? Or related to him in some way? The reason I ask predominantly the fact they both have a set of blue eyes. Blue eyes is already a ressessive trait nowadays, and almost unheard of in the current ME setting, so could they be related...? Or is one of them wearing contacts...?

There are 12 billion humans in the ME-verse. Blue eyes may be a recessive trait, but it's not THAT recessive.

Doubtful.

However he may very well be Zaeed's long lost twin brother.

But yeah, Hackett should be fine in ME3. You even see him in some of the new trailers.
