I wanted to discuss his role in ME3. What exactly will he be up to in ME3?

As we know, he's a temporary squadmate for the first part of the game and a strong advocate for Shep at the trial (at least, I'd assume). He also reinstates Shep into the Alliance (as seen on the G4TV special). I think he's the head of the Alliance now? Or up there in the ranks. And (old spoilers)
If you chose him as Human Councillor in ME1, he's resigned in ME3 and replaced by Udina.
I've got a bad feeling he might die, though... He's Shep's mentor figure, and more often than not, the mentor has to die in a story.
