Yeah, that's a fairly common trend. I mean, just look at the Dalish armor in DAO. Female "armor" in almost any game. No one is being fooled, lmfao.

Which was changed in DA2.

There was Isabela's outfit, though.

I am actually cool with Isabela's design. It speaks to her character and I have no problem believing it is what she chooses to wear. Her character owns the design and the writing supports it. Even more so when you have a variety of significant female characters who aren't dressed in skintight or revealing clothing. She is one person in a group of people who chooses to dress this way, and sure she might be objectified by some but she has agency within the game. I find that way more believable than what Mass Effect does (mostly starting in ME2) where EVERY woman is that way.

Isabela needs no pants.

Little bit of an exaggeration there.

Yeah it's...Isabela. She'd want to be as loud and sexy as possible. It's not like Merrill and Aveline were running around in Isabela like outfits.

While at first I was thinking "Come on Isabella put some pants on." but then I realized "She's a sexy pirate who wants others to see her as a sexy pirate."

I keep saying this; the excuse is to give you a guaranteed tech squadmate without having to go to all the trouble of introducing a new character. They have to hand-hold the people who got all the rest of the tech squadmates killed, and so they put in EDI.

This is the best they could do? I hope that's not true.

****, if Kaidan is alive you already have a tech squadmate and it would have been better to respec Ashley so she wasn't pure soldier than to make EDI a squaddie.

Hell, they should have just written Vega as a techy then. Argh.

I am only against EDI getting a body to become a squadmate if it prevents people who got Legion to survive the suicide mission from having him as a Squadmate. Sorry but I dont support an EDI that replaces Legion, because Legion is an awesome character we hardly use because you get him near the endgame mission.

No, but it's a silly and unnecessary direction for game to go in. It is very shallow.

Is it? For an AI like EDI, who always has been locked inside the boundaries of a ship or other strucutures during her whole life, gaining a body to experience the outside world from new perspective other than being the mere observer could mean a lot for her evolution.

Exaggeration most female enemies or at times alies in the game (other than teammates) wore full body armor. One of the most badass females in the game barring Female Shepard is Tela Vasir and she wore full body armor.

You don't know that. They could just as easily design a male robot with a body very similar to a human form that could be "sexy" i.e. very attractive.

As far as ME's design trends go, its pretty much a guarantee that EDI would probably not have a sexy attractive sleak might-as-well-be-a-naked-man dipped in chrome paint with a bulge, leaving no room to the imagination. Oh, and Fabio Hair. Because having a humanoid AI /needs/ to have hair.

I mean, look at the designs for all the squadmates.

Sexxay females:
Liara, Tali's(hips?), Ashley, Jack, Samara/Morinth, Miranda

Sexxay Men:
Jacob, Kaiden

Its very unbalanced.

I just wish there was a woman on the writing staff for ME. Deus Ex: Human Revolution's designer even stated he had to key back some of what he considered crazy sexiness because the lead writer was a woman, and it put him in a different position. I feel like ME is sort of dealing with the same thing. Especially with EDI's direction.

To be fair that was like one of the weakest outfits unless you were at a really low level. It was basically an outlier in outfits while the rest were pretty much the same for both genders.

There are moddable versions too that you could level all the way up to 50...the strength of the outfit doesn't matter. If it was such a low level outfit that people are going to ditch then why even take the effort to make sure it looks different than the male versions...eh this isn't the TOR forums...

I bet people said that Legion was stupid and unnecessary before ME2's release as well.

So have her take control of a mech for a mission. That might be neat and it would give her something new to talk about. However it wouldn't overstay its welcome. That's what EDI's body is going to do in ME3: overstay its welcome. Like I said, once the novelty wears off you'll realize you got gyped. You got EDI in a body in place of a new character or further development of an old character. EDI was never going anywhere, she was always going to be there on the Normandy and always going to be commentating on your missions.

So what did you gain?

I'd have rather had one of the ME2 squad or a new person entirely.

I'm no expert on what constitutes good male looks, but would Thane not also qualify?

Yeah, I said that. I thought it was a horrible idea. For a while I had a change of tune, then it gradually occured to me that Legion was just a novelty and that he'd actually kind of done the geth a disservice but making them too human.

Not to say that there aren't any good things about his character, and he's by no means as bad as EDI, but I'm still not nearly as enthralled by him as I once was.

I don't think Legion was ever going to be a permanent ME3 squadmate, regardless of EDI.

Considering its one outfit I doubt it was put in for any major pandering. Probably the designer just threw in a non gender neutral outfit that they liked for the female character at that stage. I'm not saying it isn't pandering but not any major amount that I'm going to really jump on Bioware for. Its one silly outfit that I care very little about.

God, okay, every woman on your team. Most NPCs (who wear the same generic skintight dresses with or without giant cutouts). Doesn't really invalidate my point.
