Not sure if that was sarcasm but i wouldve prefered Legion instead.

Why would it be sarcasm?

Though yeah, I would also prefer Legion.

I like Legion more than EDI, this is true, but I don't think Legion really would have worked as a permanent squadmate in ME3.

I'm content with what he gets in the leaked script anyway, and I don't really think there's much more they could've done with him.

Now myself, I'd like to state, I would almost certainly not pursue a relationship with an android. But who am I to say? Another good example, this one utterly iconic, is Star Trek: The Next Generation. CptData can back me up on this one.

Data had a couple of romantic flings in his career. The writers did a wonderful job with it too.

So much for support -_-

Oh well. I liked EDI in ME2, and I'm sure I'll like her in ME3. If she is a squadmate, I'll take her along a fair bit.

It was inevitable. I only hope that once people play the game support levels might rise. Of course, there's also the chance that this thread will go down in flames because enough people will absolutely abhor her. Never know.

I think allowing the Joker/EDI thing to be shaped by the player -- that is, giving Shepard the opportunity to nip it in the bud -- might alleviate a lot of the stress for all but the staunchest critics.

Then again, as I said a moment ago, this is apparently creepy. Turian/human, turian/quarian, drell/krogan, it's all good fun, but this? This is just disgusting... apparently.

Getting freaky with a bird/lizard man is just fine.

But a FemTerminator? Abomination!

By the way, if you think Joker is going to get his freak on with EDI, think again. The best he gets from her is a good luck kiss.

I think it (and any associated joker issues) could be used, perhaps, to really look into the whole question of what it means to be 'alive' and the whole 'are synthetics people too?' thing. You know, since the Geth/Quarians thing is just a hissy fit now.

Simple, if he survives the Quarian/Geth war... let him come with you. I mean he doesnt share the same personal connection to Shephard like Tali.. but he is a tech squad mate and full of intel.

It's funny. I don't really support a lot of the cross-species relationships the fandom has envisioned. I just tolerate them. I don't find them creepy though. But now there's a synthetic involved and all of a sudden it's creepy.

Probably because said synthetic (at least so far) hasn't been shown to have emotions like an organic. And is woefully naive about basic human interaction and socially retarded. It's like romancing a very young and naive person.

It's not "all of a sudden just because she's synthetic." far more factors are at play than her being synthetic.

EDI came a pretty freaking long way from the beginning of ME2 to its finale. If she were to continue on a fast-paced course for human-esque maturity, there's no issue. If she remains stunted, then yes, I'm not as comfortable with it either. But all signs point otherwise to me.

So that Mordin conversation goes nowhere then? If so then there's some good news.

To be honest.... I would have maybe kept her robot body and just have her hang over at the Normandy but not make her a squadmate...

A batarian would have been much more intresting to have as an actual squadmate. Also if you wanted to have a synthetic squadmate wouldnt Legion have served that purpose better? He's already got a fanbase and lore behind him, why not expand it?

I agree, a batarian squadmate would be a good throw in the mix of what shepard has to deal with.  The batarian squadmate can create a lot of conflict with Shepard.  Like why shepard didn't do enough to save the batarian system, maybe that batarian lost loved ones or friends to humans in the past.  It would be a good change since all of shepard's crew are extremely loyal to shepard and a batarian just has common cause against reapers to follow shepard.

And from what I'm reading from the leaked script there is no fast pased human-esque maturity before she's romancing Joker. To me she reads like a very young person who is easily impressionable trying to go into a relationship before she's ready for it. And it's squicky and it's creepy (to me at least) and it makes Joker look very very creepy to me.

I approve of some of those designs for her (reminds me of Jocasta from MARVEL comics)
One thing I'm unsure on is the status of the Normandy when she's away in her BotBody on a mission with Shep? Do we have any info on that? Is the Normandy less tactically able if EDI is off site?

I agree definately and im gonna pound Bioware on the head constantly with this lost potential, unless they are saving something like this for a batarian dlc (Khar'Shan, Batarian squadmate, unlock a batarian character for MP etc). This is something overlooked which i cannot forgive.

I love EDI. And while I feel bad that Joker fans might get shot down, [ideally it would have been an IF/OR situation] I also love Joker/EDI.

But I fully confess that I have a love of cyborgs, and I am incredibly bias. I love stories about mechanical things finding humanity, or completely rejecting it. I love robots in general.

I am torn on her design though. I LOVE Metropolis and the homage to it, but I'm not totally sure on her hair appendages. I'm fine with her being 'naked', but I hope it won't lead into a slew of fanservice type shots. I think they probably could have gone a step further with the robotness- I'm pretty partial to the picture of her with all the tentacle things coming out of her head.

I honestly think that goes too far when you start having synthetic to non synthetic relationships. Its like now ME3 wants to introduce all sorts of relationships.

What about Data? And more close-to-the-mark here, Number Six? It's an age-old science fiction storytelling device.

But regardless, as SWM has pointed out, the Joker/EDI thing really isn't that much of a focal point anyway from what the dataminers have extrapolated. I knew that'd be the focal point of early EDI discussions, because there are a lot of people who aren't thrilled at the idea. But it really isn't much of a thing.

I imagined her to look more human like, maybe like Tricia Helfer with glowing eyes, would have kinda liked that. But well, my only real problem with her looks is her "hair". Dont like it.

Overall, I loved EDI in the second game. Her being a squadmate isnt really a dream come true for me but I dont hate it either, atleast it guarantees that she will have more lines this time. She will probably be my main squad during my first playthroug alongside Kaidan.

So what, now that EDI is a sexy squad mate, you wont get the game now? Get out you spoiled kids.

I support EDI and her new traits.

It's funny, you and Cheez are both like 'er' at the 'hair' thing, but I actually kinda like it.

And yesss, the Metropolis homage is ace.

Yes, but what would you talk to him about, for instance? Almost all his conversations have to do with the geth, and once you've resolved the geth subplot, there's not much left. Besides, EDI seems to have been put in largely because the team needed a guaranteed tech character for those who can't handle the SM properly. And Legion doesn't qualify for that.

I just want to play the game not dispute philosophical questions. Tee what is and isn't alive is like saying who is really right and who is really wrong.

You do realize that's a perfectly valid viewpoint as well, right? You're talking of neutrality here. And really, the series has had a few philosophical question at its core from ME1 onward. This isn't exactly a new thing. You can just play the game and not to have think too hard if you don't want to. It's not like anyone's forcing you. Not even the writers.
