There's a lot of people, myself included, that think EDI was better off without a body, and we're disgusted by the blatant sexualization for the sake of pandering to the "target audience."

However, just as many think it's pretty cool.  I think Bioware did a pretty good job with her, but god damn, I can't get over the "we needed to make her sexy" thing.  That's just offensive to me as both a woman and a gamer.

 


Don't blame poor EDI for Bioware  stupid PR department... Like  really ... need to get people  that are tad more media savvy.. when it comes to how things come across.

Yeah Kal/Tali is less than a strong base for Nice Shepard. Jerk Shepard however is a much weaker base. So Shepard (because saying Shepard includes both nice and douche Shepard) does not automatically have a stronger base. Nice Shepard does.

Some info about the material of EDI's body and hair.

The surface is a flexible bio-mimetic nanomaterial over a more traditional metallic skull.

The skin uses shear thickening technology to help protect the central processing unit in the head.

In other words, when struck or shot, the skin solidifies to absorb the impact. It also is capable of limited self-healing.

The hair is similar. I have set it to remain one solid piece for defense reasons.

It can, however, be parted into individual strands on command if infiltration is a priority.

Granted your stance is pretty standard for a Talimancer.

I know I said I didn't want to talk about Tali/Garrus, but the irony here is that, when it came to Shepard, both of them fell for their best friend.

And then suddenly Team Dextro is romancing itself.  I think those two have a mutal best friend fetish.

The fact that she has a crush on him for being her hero. Not overly mature but very realistic.

He keeps saving her and sweeping her off her feet far more effectively than Kal'Reeger at any rate.

I myself was pretty... skeptical... :L when I read about this.

I mean I really like EDI. But I don't think there's any point in giving her a body or making her a squaddie (check owt ma rhymin' ****ezz). I read some people were saying that she could be a way to explore the whole "what do you class as living avenue" But I think you could do that without her needing a sexed up body + you could easily use Legion (a far superior character I think)

I think they should have kept her as she was ultimately, the EDI/Joker romance could be interesting, but I don't think it will add anything :/ the squad spot could have gone to some one better

So there is indeed a better basis for Tali/Kal than for Tali/Shepard. Get over it.

All Bioware romances come, at least to some extent, out of nowhere. That's the nature of them, given the system in which they are implemented.

And call it if a retcon if you so wish, but Tali does explain that she had feelings for Shepard back in ME1, but chose to hide them.

Regardless, there is certainly as much platonic friendship dialogue between them in ME1 as there is between Kal'Reegar and Tali in ME2.

There was teasing on the Citadel, and a few cut lines from Garrus' recruitment mission had a touch of bromance.

ME2's squadmates existed in weird bubbles for 99.9% of the game, so it's totally understandable if you didn't pick up on what little there was.

I'm afraid there's no way around EDI.  The squad needed a mandatory techie, just like its mandatory biotic (Liara) and combat specialist (Vega).  So those poor babies who goofed up the SM still had a balanced squad.
