Now myself, I'd like to state, I would almost certainly not pursue a relationship with an android. But who am I to say? Another good example, this one utterly iconic, is Star Trek: The Next Generation. CptData can back me up on this one.
Data had a couple of romantic flings in his career. The writers did a wonderful job with it too.
He also had sex too.
Though thing is, Data had no sex appeal.
With EDI, oh boy it really doesn't look it will go same way as Data.

I approve of some of those designs for her (reminds me of Jocasta from MARVEL comics)
One thing I'm unsure on is the status of the Normandy when she's away in her BotBody on a mission with Shep? Do we have any info on that? Is the Normandy less tactically able if EDI is off site?
I sure hope not! I'm confident the writers would find some way around that. It's a very valid concern though.

I hate her as a squadmate.
I wanted her to be the counterpoint the Reapers. An AI in a ship but instead of killing organics she empathized, protected and understood them.
With this new body thing and her becoming more "person." its bleh.
JokerxEDI is just pathetic and creepy to me.
I like EDI on her own well enough but based off the leaked script I'm gonna loathe her in the robot body.
Took the words out of my mouth.
And really, making EDI as a squadmate feels like Bioware making up for the fact that we got our first robot buddy pretty late in ME2. So now they are going to give us a new AI squadmate early on.

I honestly think that goes too far when you start having synthetic to non synthetic relationships. Its like now ME3 wants to introduce all sorts of relationships.
What about Data? And more close-to-the-mark here, Number Six? It's an age-old science fiction storytelling device.
But regardless, as SWM has pointed out, the Joker/EDI thing really isn't that much of a focal point anyway from what the dataminers have extrapolated. I knew that'd be the focal point of early EDI discussions, because there are a lot of people who aren't thrilled at the idea. But it really isn't much of a thing.
I'm a hard core Sci-FI fine but I honestly don't know about past series. The first time I came across an odd Synthetic relationship in Sci-Fi was when I was reading Halo: Contact Harvest
You're missing a treasure trove of amazing storytelling. Admittedly you're also skipping a lot of crap though.

IMO, the Legion stuff that I've read in the script does a far better job of looking into that issue than EDI does. In fact, it was one of my favourite parts in the whole thing.cgrimm54 wrote...
I think it (and any associated joker issues) could be used, perhaps, to really look into the whole question of what it means to be 'alive' and the whole 'are synthetics people too?' thing. You know, since the Geth/Quarians thing is just a hissy fit now.
It is not a "hissy fit".

I dunno man, if it exists someone finds it hot. I know a couple of people who just thought Brent Spiner was to die for back in the day. Spraypaint him yellowish and they still liked him...

I haven't actually read the leaks, but I'd like to let it be known that I love Legion. He's terrific, one of my faves. I look forward to him as well, for sure.

Asimov is great though. And very relevant to this discussion in "I, Robot".

Sorry, I'm just bitter after Joker >.<
I'm sure I'll get over it once the game comes out, and I'm sure she'll be an interesting character

It's funny, you and Cheez are both like 'er' at the 'hair' thing, but I actually kinda like it.
And yesss, the Metropolis homage is ace.
I think its because I see hair, and think it should move. It says that [ideally], she'd have skin over that metal for infiltration. So why not just plop a wig on her and keep her bald if thats what the model was built for? Maybe it'll have a clearer function- it almost looks like like a headmic too. So we'll see.

You won't be disappointed; IMO, the Legion stuff is, to me at least, the best content of any of the non-permanent squadmates.JeffZero wrote...

Yeah, the headmic thing sort of floated around in my head when I saw the pic last night. That'd be... um, interesting. "Grab your bangs, EDI, Garrus and Ash are coming in hot."

Glad to hear it. Yeah, the Legion stuff (and Rannoch in general, as I understand it) seems to have gotten a pretty great reception by BSN standards. SWM remarked that it was good too. Can't wait.

He went through her firewall once (bow chicka bow wow), but that's probably all, because she seems more interested in Joker.
