You can see a YouTube video of Tali dying, and I don't think those inspire mass rage.

If you saw them (and by them, I mean the mean crazy ones I'm eager to ****** off who constitute about 5% of the total Talimancer population or less) and how they reacted wtih extreme rage at the thought of Tali romancing FemShep (who is the SAME PERSON as BroShep), you'd get why it's gonna be good.

I remember that bullcrap.

"Tali isn't gay!"
"... She's an alien. I think it works a little differently with alie-"
"SO NOT GAY! SHE CAN'T BE GAY!"
"But it showed in the unused scri-"
"YOU CAN'T CHANGE WHO SHE IS! NOT GAY!"

nauseating.

Yeah After that I just kinda gave up... and move on.

Fun little community we've got going here, eh?

That's weird, I haven't seen any comments like that.

Regardless, it appears that she is in fact straight, so it's all moot at this point.

I don't know about that.

That was my understanding of the leaked script. Have you found evidence to the contrary? If so, I'd be interested in seeing it.

retcon definition
/ret'kon/ retroactive continuity.
The
common situation in fiction where a new story "reveals" things about
events in previous stories, usually leaving the "facts" the same (thus
preserving continuity) while completely changing their interpretation.
For example, revealing that a whole season of "Dallas" was a dream was a
retcon.

There you have it, SWM.

Here's another: http://www.webster-d...finition/retcon

I win!

(you lose)

I really think we need to start distinguishing between soft retcons and hard retcons.  A soft retcon can be the definition you gave above, and a hard retcon can be when the facts are blatantly changed.

Soft retcon = genophage does not render krogan completely sterile.
Hard retcon = Gillian Grayson is 18 years old.

If you call missing the point of your own words as "winning", then sure. You rock. Because you just gave me the same definition, but with different words.

I really do NOT want to see a Joker and EDI relationship. They should just remain friends. And yes, this is coming from someone who did watch and is a fan of BSG. Sometimes Man and Machine romances can work out, like in BSG, but other times they don't.

A relationship between Joker and EDI should be compared more to that possible relationship between John Connor and that "female" terminator in TSCC. Since it seems that EDI is more similart to a humanoid terminator, instead of a human looking (including the insides) cylon. And i am NO fan of that romance that TSCC kept hinting at, it would have been creepy. Same reason why i don't want Joker to start banging a toaster....i mean EDI (how would that work anyways?).

I don't think she will be, and even if she is I don't usually play as femshep so it doesn't do anything to affect my playthroughs.  I just hope I'm not talking to Vega (who I remmeber hearing is bi, sorry if I'm wrong) and we are joking around and he just blurts out "LETS HAVE SEX RIGHT NOW".  That would certainly be akward to say the least.

Soft retcon = genophage does not render krogan completely sterile.
Hard retcon = Gillian Grayson is 18 years old.

I also propose that we draw a distinction between good retcons and bad retcons.
(Since we're going with this definition)
Good retcon = This.
Bad retcon = Thermal clips.

edit: I just noticed, your example of a soft retcon doesn't actually exist, because the genophage never rendered the krogan completely sterile in the first place.

Tali having a crush on Shepard is not a retcon, but a clumsy development. There was nothing that said she didn't like Shep, yet there was nothing that said she did. With no facts you can't call it a retcon. Interpretations aren't a very solid ground as everyone can see things differently.

It looks like she might be open for romance again in ME3. (and said romance was in really really early stages). Or they thought about it...wrote two throwaway lines then decided not too. Hard to tell.

I hope Vega is like a male Liara and just comes onto Shepard out of nowhere. It would be worth it.

Im guessing the writers are going to let EDI say the whole "Are you alive?" thing. It would be a good node.

Also it would be great if Joker called her a "skin job", in a joking way. It wouldn't necesarily be a BSG node, since BSG got it from bladerunner. And im sure the movie bladerunner exists in the Mass Effect universe.

I'd guess that it wouldn't work at all, since EDI lacks the proper slot for that kind of input.

The design of EDI's body was inspired by Maria from Metropolis.

Says so right on the page.

Which part? Because I can tell you right now, she looks nothing like Maria. At /all/. And the stories are also completely different. How EDI acquires her body is nothing like what happens to Maria. The only similarities I can draw is you have an inorganic who is in a female-shaped body.

I would've even prefered if Bioware's design team at /least/ kept the covert bot's skin and hair, so she'd at least look human if that was the angle they were going for.

Otherwise, I call BS. They wanted to design a sexy robot lady to cheaply appeal to certain demograph, and sat down trying to think of all the best ways they could excuse a terrible decision (So it can stay sexy! And edgy! And robotic!)

Okay; because a bunch of the romance lines I've seen used gender-specific language, and I haven't seen any lines for starting up a romance like I have for VS/Liara.

You themematic elements can be the same or  draw  inspiration from  theme that has been explored in Sci-fi ... alot.

To be frank, I was hoping Bioware would explore EDI and Joker's relationship, sort of like The Doctor and Tardis from Dr. Who. They both truly love eachother and work best together, but can never actually be together due to the differences between them. But that doesn't stop who or what their relationship is.

It is a very tragic, multidimensional, complex idea.

Instead they made her a sexy robot and paved what could have been a very intriguing, philosophical concept into 'Well. Let's give Joker a walking, talking vibrato- Special Cerberus Model Covert Operations Robot'

Here

Highlight below obviously
-So if you're ever lonely... just let me know.
-Unless you'd rather be alone. We've got the war... several, in fact. And if you're not interested...

In a conversation about Shep's LIs.

She also has this odd statement:

Do you think Miranda hated me? Because you picked me instead of her? Do you think that's why she..

Very suggestive of a ME3 romance because dumping Miranda in ME2 doesn't lead to the romance flag being lifted and I'm not sure the devs would've included a line for what was essentially a glitch (romancing Miranda completely dumping her after the SM then running to Tali). Or if they did that why not include the other variations?

I don't see the inspiration.

Except that she has a female robot body. That's way sexier.

You can say one thing to make your design decisions sound legitimate, but it doesn't mean it wasn't actually an afterthought. Because, quite frankly, I don't buy the Metropolis point. I don't see the inspiration at all. There are way too many differences, particularly design wise, to even suggest they were actually inspired by Metropolis.

Well. Except that both robots have boobs.

That has nothing do with  body designed that just Bioware's crappy romance writting  showing its ugly head again.. I think that issue and the design of the body itself are two different issues that are getting lumped together.

A valid Point.

But then maybe the insparition  as far artist...I can honest say the first thing  I thought before I even saw i the picture was Maria... when I saw  the picture I was okay  not  to far from what i expect.. Certainal not the Synthetic skin  and body  like the sex bots in Ghost in the Shell 2.

On a funny Side note

Oh EDI, I love you and your dialogue, but your body is ridiculous and I can't really get past it.

The Joker/EDI romance bothers me for many reasons, one of which is in my signature. Yeah I'm biased but honestly, people were asking for Joker and Shep to get together since ME1, before EDI even existed. And it has a much larger fan base which were pretty much ignored. I mean I got into the pairing only a few months ago, some have been wanting it for years.

But hey, I guess we get what we get huh. Cheers EDI, hopefully your body doesn't look quite so ridiculous in game because that's just not fair to you.
