Thanks. I got the concept art images, and well, I like them. If her finished design is the one in the upper left corner, I think it's good.

Welcome to what we knew months ago!
I'll see you in March when you guys are talking about how much you love the Joker/EDI romance.
I sure would love that ! I can help but ROFL when I imagine EDI and Joker hooking up together, it's just too bloody funny
And by the way, EDI's design is beautiful, I love it, and I'm really looking forward to see her in the game

Wow. You're like one of the very few that actually likes the concept.

It is a little funny. I think I'm more open to the idea because I'm a huge fan of androids. Particularly Data from Star Trek: TNG.
Same, her look is totally a throwback to the classic female robots from back in the day, which were cool!

What are the criticisms of it? I think she looks elegent, fitting for her voice.

The same reason people hate T.I.M. in ME3, it's not the way they wanted it. Which it's perfectly fine to hate it, but it doesn't keep it from happening.

Well, I'd say that the big one is the sexy robot deal. Most people think it's unnecessary/dumb.
I personally don't have that big of a problem with it. I think she looks okay.

I believe many people, particularly in my country (United States) take sex issues way too seriously, and have a tendency to overreact.
We were born with certain bodily functions, and hormonal urges. These urges guide us to be attracted to certain aesthetics. (Differing with/to each person.) We gravitate towards the sexual discussion, be it expression, equality, exploitation. It's the quintessential part of who we are.
And yet, increasingly I see overblown reactions to each of these issues in turn. It is disconcerting. How can we presume to judge upon others what is the correct demeanor for sexuality when we ourselves mistreat even the discussion of the issue?
At this point all I can say to those who are upset with the EDI issue all is to keep an open mind. You might not like it initially, but hey, it could be entertaining even by juxtaposition.

Noooo. While I won't argue there are a few people who feel that way, that's not the majority opinion.
Most people dislike the appearance because it is INCREDIBLY hypersexualized. Hell, in the artbook even reads "EDI’s body needed to be sexy, chrome, and robotic, the Mass Effect version of Maria from Metropolis.” Why? Why does she have to be sexy? And she comes across LESS as Maria and more Austin Powers Sexxy femmebot with guns for boobs.
Its hard to take a character seriously when she looks like a piece of hot fetishized meat meant specifically for viewing pleasure.
Imagine if, say, Admiral Hacket was redesigned to look like this.

Would you take him less or more seriously?

I still say the sole blame for the EDI/Joker romance rests on the head of Seth Green. And knowing the context, I cannot blame.

I don't believe that is the issue.
The issue is HOW she has been designed. I don't care if you are a dude or a chick playing this game, its very difficult to take a complex and fascinating character like EDI seriously when she looks like she is a naked woman dipped in chrome.
Especially when most lines from the leak script are dedicated to talking about how HOT and DISTRACTING her body is.
WTF? Why does one of the most powerful AI units in the Mass Effect universe have to be whittled down to 'OMG BOOBZ! YOGA PERFORMANCE! JOKER HARD ON!'?!
Because her VA happens to be a very attractive actress? Kal Reegor's actor is sexy as hell. I don't see Kal Reegor running around with a thong on.
The problem is so overt and obvious its eye roll worthy. I don't like it when a game I really love averts itself into a creampie filling of the male gaze. I am not male. I can't appreciate that. In fact, it really just insults and kicks my self esteem in the ballz because if even a brilliant AI program like EDI's importance is dictated by how HAWT her body is and how EASY it is for her to get into the pants of organics, well..
Just saying. ITs an overused, obnoxious concept that is unoriginal and frankly - eye roll inducing.

You know what they say. Don't judge a book by its cover.
Its hard not to judge when this kind of BS is something I have to scrape through constantly as a female gamer.
Put in RE5, and my first introduction to the main female character is an ass shot.
Throw in ME2, and Miranda can't go several seconds without bending over with the camera peering directly at her butt as she talks about important mission logistics.
Play Batman: Arkham City, and Catwoman comes in crawling on all fours while licking her lips, turning her hips, and caressing her curves.
Switch the gender roles.
This is what I see -

So yeah. I'm going to judge the book.

If EDI's goal is to be 'More human' so she can understand organics... then why doesn't she wear clothes on deck? People don't usually run around naked for giggles.

i'd imagine she would do this sooner or later to further screw with joker's mind. she strikes me as a curious and playful ai.

You don't want her to be sexy correct? Then how is you comment any different than what I said about the reason people hate her is because it's not the way they want her to look?
Not wanting her to be sexy IS you being upset because she's not the way you wanted her.

You can be SEXY
And not be a SEX OBJECT.
There is a difference.
I'm angry because her appearance isn't enhancing her overall sexiness. Its turning her into a sex object. The script says as much.
You can take a sexy person seriously, but its much harder to take a sex object seriously. Because that is what they are: A sex object. If the leaked script remains, EDI becoming more 'human' is more along the lines of 'OMG her body is so distracting!' and 'Must sleep with Joker!' etc.
Since when does becoming more organic require EDI to be a fetishized object? Legion's coming to grasp with organic thinking and philosophy doesn't require him to wear a hot bodacious bod. Why does EDI have to take on that role?
Oh. Because her AI is 'Female'. Gotcha.

As long as they're not resorting to exaggerated ass shots and things like that, I don't really care. Doesn't hurt that much if a character looks good.
We will see. After reading that part about EDI practicing Yoga, I near about knocked my head into the wall.
Honestly? If they went that far with her appearance design wise... I expect a lot of ass shots, chest shots, and male reactions going 'Hubba Hubba' in game.
A /lot/ of them.
Because its the obvious thing to do. When the game comes out and this /doesn't happen/, I'll eat my words. But considering this is one of the most predictable design / story ideas a game developer could make, I expect them to be just as predictable with the shots and dialogue.
