Legion says I at times (I believe it's just the dev's messing up though).

Anyways I'll wait for ME3 as well. Though the wanting the minds uploaded to a reaper was originally going to be explained in ME2. It's in some cut dialogue I believe.

Yeah actually didymos has a thread I think that actually has that dialogue in it.

I support EDI as a squadmate. I have seen people call Liara a fanservice-y character, the same with Miranda. Both I love dearly. I don't give a crap. I loved EDI in ME2 because of her weird humour, I hopefully will do so in ME3. Going by some of Trisha's tweets about how much fun she had recording, I am optimistic.

One more thought on the Joker romance:

I think they have a great dynamic between them and are cute together, so I approve. I love EDI, but I don't like the taste of metal anyway, so I will not stand in the way ;P

+ 1. That's the bsn, nothing new.

Miranda, Jack before the release of M2. Vega 8 months ago, Ashley. I like them all despite all the **** about them on this board. Now EDI that was already really fun in M2. I don't give a damn about what think the bsn, it isn't credible.

I wait to see first the result.

EDI has some pretty fun moments in ME3, so I'm willing to ignore any minor negative sides her body might bring.

Judging by the artwork, she doesn't have any negative sides on her body.

Ugh what I think makes it worse is there is a scene where Shep tells EDI off doing "yoga" on the bridge. EDI says she is just testing her body's capabilities ¬_¬ blatant blatant fanservice.

Not the first robot in fiction to actually do that. I believe it was in a old cartoon The Zeta Project. That android did yoga I believe for the same reasons EDI was doing it. Either that cartoon or a different one not sure.

Edit: Well I think he was showing off a bit here but eh not the first Robot in fiction to do it. Look at 3:35

Fanservice by itself isn't always an inherently bad thing. However, I do have trouble with the idea of designing a character with fanservice primarily in mind, especially if it violates the internal consistency of the fiction in question. I guess I'll see where this goes come March....

I don't like the notion of Joker romancing EDI, I find it silly to be honest. I do like the notion of my Femshep romancing EDI in all her metallic goodness. I think she looks great and I look forward to having her as a squad mate.

I'm fully aware of the fact that Mass Effect isn't a "kiddie game"
But when I read that part (the yoga thing), I just ugh... didn't like it, personally I think there is no point to it, why would she need to test her bodies capabilities in front of all the crew by seeing how "flexible" she is.

I just find that making EDI 'sexy' is ruining a character that I personally loved in ME2, I liked her being a sentient ship, I liked the contrast it provided with the Reapers, that is the main issue I have with this whole thing.

imagine if that "yoga" scene happens after EDI's first mission where she could be damaged in some way. after getting repairs at the normandy she could have realized that her "soul/ghost" would need to get better acquainted with her new shell's limitations.

I find it very amusing that one cannot criticize the design choice of EDI without being called a "stupid feminist" truly, the Bioware Social Network is a place where opinions are respected.

the same is true for the other side though, with some people saying that anyone who likes EDI's body is a teenage hormone driven male.

when it comes down to it, both sides are at fault for not respecting each others opinion.

Nor can any amount of skin or feminine beauty be depicted without the tired cry of sexism or fanservice.

Haven't heard the term 'stupid feminist' in a while on this thread. Most people on this thread dislike the design anyway.

I find it funny how the ones going "OMG stop being a typical feminist!" for bashing EDI's design and not considering her personality go full out and call Vega a meathead. -_-

Gotta love irony.

What happens to the ship when/if Edi dies though?

You mean her avatar body? If so then nothing. EDI is technically still in the ship physically.

EDI and Sovereign aren't the same at all. A Reaper has the minds of many many organic beings and EDI is an AI that basically operates by using a Quantum Computer. The connection could be very different. Sovereign puts its conscious into another being and the very trauma of dying felt by millions perhaps billions of organics likely stunned it.

EDI is an AI and the connection is likely simply superficial. It uses a Quantum entaglment device to maintain a constant connection to the machine so it can essentially remote control it.

Edit: This is just a theory.

And why exactly would Sovereign feel the need to put in all it's minds inside one being when one mind would suffice? (if EDI's any indication). Just seems pretty dumb where I stand.

Because Reapers, like geth, build true consenceous. They see the benefit in multiple perspectives ironing out possiblities for the best results. What's scary about the Reapers is that all of these bio-synthetic minds have concluded that perpetual cleansing of life is the best thing for the galaxy. What sucks about this, is that Bioware (and Walters) will probably ignore this concept (one that they created) in order to just make the Reapers "evil".

Or more so a result of throwing tearms like  Sexism  around  needlesly ever damn time some kind of design choice  or character shows up and  some don't like it.
