To get a contrary opinion in there, my girlfriend likes EDI's new form. She used to be a cute little lesbian, though. So I don't really know if she adds value to the argument, for those that see interest as hormonally driven. I don't think the body designed for her is over the top, so I'm not going to bite my thumb at it, either. Sexuality is more of an expression and an intention than it is one's appearance.
EDI is cheeky enough that having her out in the field will be lots of fun, anyway, so it's difficult for me to not enjoy the prospect. Appearances aside, surely people are intrigued by the potential it represents?
I like mechanical life forms, they fill a specific role in science fiction and represent great utility. If I can't have Legion, then this is a suitable substitute.

I *hope that the writing team doesn't skimp on this...
But I know they will. They want to appeal to the lowest common denominator: casual players. Casual players don't care about story, motives, or revelations. They care about explosions.
I don't get why a game can't have both, but alas...
Come on, that's silly. Mass Effect is more driven by narrative than any other game. It's what stands out in the minds of gamers when they measure the series against other games.
They have the "action mode" for those people, anyway. I've no doubt that critical story elements will be fleshed out, per usual.
