From what I hear they get one mission each and thats about the size of it...ME1 cast has the lions share....Including the ME2 squad there is a lot of ground to cover, so why the introduction of even more so?...I don't get that myself.JeffZero wrote...

A bad idea...simply for the fact that there are too many new squad mates already, it would have been nice I reckon if BW more concentrated on expanding the stories of those we have already without lining up a whole new extra cast.
From the leak tidbits I have seen, BioWare did the most exemplary job possible with several of the ME2-introduced squadmates not on your permanent roster in ME3.

But those missions are giving at least a few of the ME2-introduced cast the chance for more openness in their storytelling that they wouldn't have been afforded if they were aboard the Normandy. What I've heard of Mordin's, Miranda's and Legion's arcs at the very least is very satisfying and I can't see it being pulled-off quite so... energetically if they were otherwise chained to the Normandy SR2 again.

However, I don't think having one as a squadmate would make much sense in ME3 if all the Batarians hate Shepard and humanity for the events in Arrival. If there was one who was willing to help out Shep and see the truth of what he/she did in Arrival, they would probably be seen as a traitor to their race.

And a traitor to the batarian race might make for some compelling storytelling, IMO.

It's no real skin off my nose as none of my Sheps has an LI, but I do feel for those who have chosen an ME2 LI, more of a fizzle than a bang for them.JeffZero wrote...

I have no issue with not chaining squad members to the Normandy....just not really getting why more characters are being introduced when so many are already there....with the shere number of ME1 and ME2 squad mates combined, all on board would be ludicrous for ME3 anyway....so why bring even more on board?...That my thought.

That's fair, but I've read enough of Miranda's romance arc at least to recognize that as far as "romance without your LI being on the ship at all times" goes, I... think I actually prefer Miranda's ME3 romance over her ME2 one, believe it or not. If the rest of them can pull it off with nearly as much dignity I don't think I'll take issue, really.
As for more on board... well, yeah. True enough. I think BioWare likes an element of 'newness' with each entry a bit more than many of its fans, but I like what I've seen of the new squadmates in any case.

I agree. But then it might become more about the possible Human/Batarian war and less about the Reapers.

[/quote]I very much hope everyone gets very well written stories and quality time with their favorites...that would work. Though I know for myself I am definitely going to very much miss my favorite and most effective combat teams for my game style, I admittedly am disappointed about that.
As for the new squaddies, I would personally prefer to keep those I work well with...that being said though, Prothy has me intrigued....as for Vega and co. I remain ambiguous/neutral (really not sure about Vega after the comic, I didn't like that characterization) until the game comes out....As for adding even more, such as a Batarian, that's just too many new squaddies, when does the count end.

That's like saying a white man from 1950's Alabama wouldn't fight alongside a black man because all white Alabamians were racist back then. It may be true for a large percentage of them, but certainly not 100% of them.
Regardless of how much the batarian hegemony hates humanity, it's not beyond reason that at least one batarian would be willing to fight for Shepard if it meant saving the galaxy from the reapers.

I have a idea wanted to share I know it will never make it into the game but this would make for an interesting way to bring in a Batarian squad mate.
Batain sqaudie info
1.He worked for or was a close friend or business associate of Edan Had'dah
2.Saren killed Edan on Camala along with the Sidon traitor nd got the location of Sovereign and some data on the AI studies being done on Sovereign.
3.Saren never felt the need to hunt down any Batarians who may have knowledge/data that was stored off Camala because the Batarians had abandoned and left Citadel and the Council views them as traitors and criminals, they was little to be gained from putting resources into such a hunt when the data Saren had he felt was enough.
4.Enter Batarian Squadie, he has a copy of some of the deta from Sidon and Camala but due to the distrust of Batarians he's never known who he could turn to with this important deta, until Shepard comes out and is outwordly trying to stop the Reapers
5.Batarian Squadie has been trying to find Shep like Legion for some time and gets the deta to him and with the deta Kaylee Sanders is able to come up with the first or a most impotent part of a method to stop the Reapers
Not only would it tie into the very first ME book and over all plot it allows the player to talk with and get to know a Batarian and maybe see that the Batarians are also suffering from the fallout between them and the Council
Like I said I know it won't happen in the game but I'd like to hear everyone's thoughts on my idea no matter if ya think I'm an idiot and this is a dumb idea or some thing else I can take the negative feedback

A batarian squadmate will probably not make it into the final game, but one can hope it can be a future dlc character with a mission and etc.
