I can't seem to find anything on this. The problem most people seem to have is a bug where they can't talk to Isabella to start the quest. But thats not whats happening to me. When I follow her to Castions place at the docks and fight all the guys. There is one locked room I am supposed to enter. The problem is NO ONE drops a key which I read is supposed to happen. The main guys corpse just vanishes and im left in a room with nothing and no way to go in the locked room or even leave the area.
No rest for the wicked problem.

For some reason on my 5th try it worked and he dropped the key. I know for a fact his corpse vanished all the other times because I stood right next to it until the cutscene.
Anyone know about a possible bug involving going into that side room first to loot the chest with like 20 gold in them? The only thing I did different was not loot those before the fight.

There does seem a problem with the game that certain quests will be bugged if you loot chests/corpses before completing a certain quest loop, particularly if it finishes with someone directing you to search the corpse/area. This happens with the first Isabella quest if you loot corpses before the end of the fight in front of the palace steps and so it is quite possible that the same occurs here.

Is there are key there? I don't remember that in that quest. Have you tried to lockpick it open with Isabella or Varric?

Right, the thing is though I wasn't looting the corpses early. Matter of fact I don't even really know how you DO loot corpes during a battle. It never works for me so I don't try. His body kept on vanishing right after he died.

In my 2nd post I said I figured it out.
Yeah there is a key involved for sure. Yeah at first since his body was vanishing I thought I needed a rogue. Since Isabella is there by default I use her to try and pick the door and she couldn't do it. You need the key to open the door.
The weird thing is this is my 2nd playthrough. I can almost vaguely remember having this same problem before yet when searching about it online no one else seemed to ever have a problem. I had to do the same 5 times over to make sure the corpse with the key didn't just go away.
