While that is a bold statement I do believe that ME can rightfully claim to be one of the most compelling sci-fi journey's ever. If the movie they are working on is done right it can definitly be one for the ages.

They're both great franchises...
EDIT- Btw Mass Effect took ideas from Star Wars.(remember the sky car scene in Episode 2?) Not saying its "better", but I'm just sayin'.

Life is a bunch of ifs you can choose to look at an IF as a positive or look at is as a negative, I prefer to be positive.

The ironic thing about this whole discussion is that Star Wars may be responsible for my Mass Effect obsession. I did buy KOTOR back in the day because I loved Star Wars after all and since KOTOR introduced me to bioware it is the main reason I bought Mass Effect 1 because it looked like it could be a KOTOR but with guns instead of lightsabers.
I agree Kotor Brought me to bioware, which brought me to Mass Effect. I love both series. Mass Effect and Kotor era Star Wars will always be tied. Movie era Star Wars lost to Mass Effect a long time ago imo

I have to say for that Mass Effect is a more mature series. Star Wars is fun and supposed to be for light-hearted joy. Don't get me wrong, I love Star Wars and don't think it's all fluff. However, with that said I believe Mass Effect is still a more complete story. I won't compare the EU of Mass Effect to the EU of Star Wars because unfortunately, you can't count what we've seen from comics, books, and the iP(hone/ad) game as much of the story behind Mass Effect has not really been told to give a true definitive Mass Effect expanded experience.
4 books for the Mass Effect series, 6 comics, along with one game against a plethora of books, comics, and games. Give it a few years possibly and Mass Effect will have an expanded universe like Star Wars. Will it be as good? They both don't have the best art for the comic books, only a few of the Star Wars books were phenomenal *cough Zahn cough*, and there were a certain amount of games from LucasArts that weren't total fecal matter. So who knows what could happen in ten years.

Sure the prequels sucked, but ME's comics and anime doll sucks too - so they cancel each other out.

Mass Effect has projectile based guns & OmniBlades.
I'm going to have to call shenanigans on ME>SW.

KotOR 2 turned Revan into some manipulative genius. If Revan were in Shepards shoes the Citadel probably would have expanded their military production considerably and build a massive fleet regardless of whether Revan could convince them of the reapers existence or not, so... Revan > Shepard.
Reven would have convinced the Reapers not to invaded just from talking to Sovereign.

KOTOR used to be my favorite era, then TOR (specifically the book about Revan which is basically KOTOR 3) came along and now all I care about are Lightsabers.

I like Mass Effect better than Star Wars, but it's not usurping it in notoriety or popularity any time soon.
Well Star Wars did have a 30 year head start. Mass Effect is still a very young franchise but they could take the ME univerise in so many different directions the potential is staggering because even at it's young age the lore in ME is pretty deep so there are alot of different angles that could be worked with and there is alot that can be done with the ME brand outside of video games.

I havn't read the book but I heard about what happened but the exile seemed to get the short end of the stick lol but I have seen what happened to Revan in TOR and that was not the fate I would have liked to see happen to him. But I still love the era.

There is Star Wars, Star Trek, and Mass Effect. The way I see it even though Mass Effect is a new franchise, it's almost like a combination of the other two. Star Wars and Star Trek have been battling it out for years at this point. Mass Effect has now made a big enough impact so it can join that battle. I think they all pretty much have equal ground at this point. I'll always personally love Star Wars a bit more than Mass Effect (my obscene SW collection is proof of that lol) and I will always hate Star Trek in comparison to the other two. It's all an opinion sort of thing. They are all good for different reasons so they really can't be compared in this manner unless we round up everyone that is a fan of all three (in the whole world) and then take a vote.
Mass Effect is what a Star Trek game could have been instead all Star Trek games are is mediocre space battles.
