Haha - we just finished watching that about two hours ago.

About to start on ROTJ.

I wouldn't have agreed with you a few days ago - but now...

...well C3-PO didn't need to become sexy. And the only sexy alien gets eaten by a rancor in the first twenty minutes of the third film.

Yeah, it is. I watch the original three episodes every few years. I still get nerd chills at the end of Jedi when Luke looks from Vaders severed hand to his own mechanical hand and throws the saber away when he realizes what he's becoming.

Interesting. I don't agree, but that's just another opinion. I've always tried to explain Mass Effect to other people by saying that it's a combination of Star Wars (Jedi/Sith powers), Star Trek (Starships/Council), Babylon 5 (Citadel), with a few drops of Firefly and Farscape for good measure.

But, they're entirely different media. I don't think we'll ever have a Star Wars game like Mass Effect. I don't think we'll ever have a Mass Effect film like Star Wars. "Better" doesn't really apply here. In my opinion, of course.

Starwars trilogy... what about the starwars novels? Starkiller is one of the coolest characters since the Valheru in the Raymond E. Fiest's magician series.

Mass effect is good but it will never match starwars.

PS. your a guy and you play as a chick... just sayin.

In order for starwars to lose the sci-fi crown to mass effect, harbinger would have to be Shepards papa in me3 j/k. I think both me and sw are strong stories and for it to be compared fairly Me would have to topple star wars at the movies or at least get reviewed better than original sw trilogies.
Personally I think the empire strikes back has a better story than me 1 and 2. Also introduces one of the biggest characters in movie history. Yoda.

Starwars is not real sci-fi. Its fantasy that just happens to be set in space. I mean the moment they mentioned 'Midichlorians' in TPM just made me roflmao.

Real Sci-fi is stuff like Blade Runner, Alien (and the soon to be released Prometheous) - hell even the really poor movie 'lost in space' was loaded with proper sci-fi.

Babylon 5 is real sci-fi. Based on the Rotational aspect of creating gravity - using areas to grow food and maintain and oxygen rich atmosphere, having earth alliance capitol ships use rotational sections for crew members - again to create gravity. Weapons technology based on Particle emissions / plasma tech. Living Ships. (copied by farscape) Hey and dont forget planetary bombardment by throwing asteroids at it (narn bombardment by the centauri).

Star wars is Fantasy. I mean Admiral Ackbar....... come on.

Hmm both universes I believe are equally as interestng, but I think Mass Effect and Star Wars are cmpared because Mass Effect is heralded as being the 'successor' to star wars in the way its bringing in new fans to science fiction. I honestly can't say whats better, altough star wars has the background and years and years of history albeit the majority of it seems to be the eternal struggle between the Jedi and Sith, Mass Effect feels like a new baby which still has alot of material to explore making it more interesting to read and discover.

The prequel? Yeah.

The original? Dream on. :P

Prequel is a no-brainer, but no, I mean original. It is better then the original trilogy. :D

It is. Star Wars is a giant mess when it comes to different races.

Empire Strikes  back = A good Endigin and Begining with a whole lot of boring  padding and  poor pacing inbetween

Admiral Ackbar's face was the model for the sentient machines we call reapers! Lol I like both franchises so I say it's a tie. Luminous beings are we! Not this crude matter.

I love the Star Wars saga (yes all six), Star Trek: TOS + the good old crew movies, Star Trek: TNG, and Mass Effect. They all satisfy me through what they're good at, and they're all good at entirely different things. Asking to choose which one is best is like trying to get me to make a "top 10 best songs ever" compilation. It's just completely silly.

Pragmatic approach, fair enough. I like to see people's black and white opinions though, because it allows you to see how people "like" or "dislike" something.

For me, I see people that simply go "Star Wars OT is better" are doing it more to look like cool or hip or whatever - unless of course, they provide reasoning.

Also, I play as femshep - because she's awesome Female player characters FTW - the context makes the adventure so much more interesting.

You are not alone. social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/323/index/7614958 I think Mass Effect is heavily indebted to Star Wars though. This much is undeniable.

Don't ever feel the need to justify playing Femshep. Good roleplayers aren't intimidated by sex or gender. B)

It is a great universe but some retcons, plotholes and such drag it down, plus the seeming aimlessness the story shows from point to point. I mean the main story of ME2 which seemed kinda fillerish, dragged it down alot...

In the end despite it having a millions of dollars worth of budget, great graphics and a star cast of voice actors, it cant win against it's grandfather, Star Control 2: the Ur-Quan Masters, Thats my opinion anyways. The latter game was one of the best games of the 90s and to date is still replayable and has a very dedicated fanbase. And overall I think it's universe is also more intresting than anything ME, Star Wars or Star Trek can make. Sorry BW.

It is tough to beat Star Wars when it comes to sheer amounts of lore behind it. I doubt Mass Effect can catch up to that anytime soon. That being said, I personally much prefer Mass Effect.
I find the universe so much more appealing, more grim and realistic than Star Wars ever managed to create. I would personally take Mass Effect over Star Wars anytime.

I'll wait to pass judgement until the ME film arrives, If i think it's better than the old SW films then yeah ME is better than SW..until then comparing a game to a film is just..well a waste of time in my opinion.

Nothing will ever be as iconic as the Star ___'s, so they're better than Mass Effect by default.

Jedi/Sith > Biotics . . . sorry . . . but i do love Mass Effect, but the Star Wars universe is way bigger with way more characters (granted it did have a 40 year head start)
