I've been romancing Anders on my pro-templar file since I haven't done either yet. Anyhow I know he'll break up with Hawke I think if I make a deal with Torpor. However does the romance get affected if I make Feynriel traqunil.

Some notes: Anders Friendship maxed out, slept with him after having my female hawke having a one night stand with Isabella. Invited him to move in and gave him his gift so far in Act 2.

There are a few details on that in the Romance section of the wiki page on Anders. Specifically:

If Hawke completes the quest Wayward Son in Act 1, Anders can enter the Fade with you in the Act 2 quest Night Terrors. There, Justice takes control of Anders again. If Hawke accepts the offers of the sloth demon to take over Feynriel for a peace agreement, Hawke will be forced to kill Anders and Justice. However, since Anders' "death" occurs in the Fade, it is not permanent, and despite being a Mage he is not made tranquil (although Keeper Marethari says a death in the fade will make a Mage tranquil). One can avoid rivalry points by later telling Anders that it was a ruse. This actually results in a good amount of friendship points.

And...

In Act 2 Anders can end the romance with Hawke in Anders in the Fade, which is available if a deal is made with Torpor the sloth demon during Night Terrors, and Hawke chooses not to kill the demon (instead killing Anders in the Fade). Accepting the demon's offer and not killing it will result in rivalry points with Anders, and he ends any possible romance. The romance can be continued normally, even if Anders is killed in the Fade, by killing the demon in the end and afterwards telling Anders it was all a ruse, using the special option in the dialogue wheel

I can't vouch for either, having not done a playthrough with an Anders romance. It looks like you get a chunk of rivalry points if you make Feynriel Tranquil, but there are some more details here.

In regards to heartbreaking during Night Terrors:
Making Feynriel tranquil, no. Allowing Feynriel to be possessed, yes. Tricking the sloth demon and telling Anders, no. Tricking the sloth demon and not telling Anders, yes.

Which makes me think that you waking up if you die in the fade would be way more appropriate than a game over screen. Especially considering that it is a sidequest and thus not required to move the plot forward.

You have Anders friendship maxed out on a pro templar route, really?
Anyway, as far as I remember it gives you lot of rivalry to make Fenryel tranquil, accepting Torpors deal, but turning against Torpor and most importantly telling Anders that you told killed Torpor will earn you first rivalry but then lots of friendship.
Accepting Torpors deal, but not betraying him will earn you rivalry and an end to the romance.
Saving Fenryiel without accepting Torpors deal or making him tranquil earns you friendship.

I can't speak for the romance part but if you are maxed out on friendship then it is irrelevant what you do since the status won't change once it reaches 100%.

It will still break the romance.

So how should I proceed then? I will be picking the mages at the end of the game. Just trying to get the damn Mage Hunter trophy and wanna keep the romance flag active.

Edit: So from what I understand he won't break off the romance if i make fey tranquil. Only if I make a deal with Torpor.

He won't if you make Fenriel tranquil, if you have a 100 % friendship you will not suffer from the rivalry gain.

Well I am on ps3 so I can say if it is a glicth, but it sure does sound like it. Is it just this specific quest or does he keep getting friendship/rivalry points even if he is maxed out no matter what?

Ouch, have you tried to ask in the technical forum, because it sounds like a bug.

You could always just do the rival mance, it is... interesting, but a few rivalry point don't break the romance anyway.
