- Virmire
- Citadel - killing saren and sovereign. The final confrontation with saren was awesome and getting him see the error of his ways and killing himsel was satisfying, I knew Saren was a good guy deep down (although racist and ruthless, but still not pure evil) from the very start and he was just a tragic hero who fell victim to the reapers.
- LOTSB
- Suicide mission
- Thane's recruitment ( most of the other mission were pretty equal in IMO, thane's recruitment is only barely in the top 5)
- Lazarus research station
- Feros
- Almost all the non-citadel ME1 sidequests.
- Samara's recruitment
- Eden Prime

Why only 5 missions? Just 6? Even that is too few.
Here is my top 20 favourite missions.
1: Suicide Mission (I would love it if Mass Effect 3 missions had role delegation)
2: Lair of the Shadow Broker
3: Kasumi Loyalty
4: Dead Reaper mission
5: Virmire
6: Noveria
7: Overlord
8: Arrival
9: Zaeed's Loyalty
10: Recuit your allies on the Citadel: Mass Effect 1
11: Garrus Recuitment Mission ME 2
12: Tali's loyalty mission
13: Samara or Morinth? Mission
14: Jack's recuitment mission.
15: Jacob's loyalty mission
16: Killswitch side quest from ME 2.
17: Mordin's Recuitment Mission
18: Mordin's Loyalty Mission
19: Grunt's loyalty Mission
20: Tali's recuitment mission
Honerable mentions
All recuitment and loyalty missions not stated above. ME2
Geth Incursion ME 1
Dealing with Mercenaries
Hammerhead missions: (I'm in the minority that likes them). Could have had more hit points on the vehicle.
Protect the Quorian
Nifty little puzzles from redirecting energy flows to exploring a ship that crashed. ME 2 got non-combat sidemissions right.
Hub world assignments: Omega, Illium, Citadel ME 1, Noveria, Feros, Citadel ME 2 and Tuchanca
Least Favourite Missions: There aren't that many.
1) Most of the Mass Effect 1 sidequests that involved going to the same wharehouse killing with the same layout!!!!!
2) Lazarus Project: Played this in the demo and I thought that Mass Effect 2 was a rubbish shooter. I was so wrong. This was a poor excuse for an introductary mission.
3) Eden Prime: Bit dull for me.
4) Collection quests in Mass Effect 1. Yawn.
5) 20 Crates! Urrrrrrgh!!!!!!
6) Therum: That damn Krogan Battlemaster!!! Urrrrgh!!!!!

Favorite (in no particular order)
Tali - Treason: I love gameplay and gunfights as much as the next gamer but give me fantastic voice acting, strong world building, true character development, and interesting storyline? I'll pick that mission over a battlefield rally every time. Tali's loyalty mission began with the use of poetry as identity verification, superimposed with an amazing visual of the Migrant Fleet straight out of the original Battlestar Galactica. It went on into a merging of politics and justice that had to be navigated, giving insight into the crossroads the Quarians find themselves in. From there, we got to see how Tali has managed to become who she is despite a disfunctional relationship with her father and a world view in which she can never touch, never smell, never truly interact with the world. Then, we get to make the big decision. Do we tell the truth which will guarantee Tali stays with the people she so loves? Or do we honor the request of a friend and risk having her exiled. Tali's relationship with Shepard is broken or forged in steel in that moment. "I got better, Shepard. I got you."
Lair of the Shadow Broker: Liara has a kitchen. Liara has a fridge. That thought struck me as I explored her apartment. Shadowbroker afforded us an all too brief but lovely viewpoint into what life is like outside of a starship in the Mass Effect universe. Add to that action and plot and, most importantly, a chance for those Shepards who wooed Liara in ME1 to have true, deep, and rich interaction with their love interest and LotSB becomes one of the best DLCs ever.
Illium: This isn't a mission. I just enjoyed walking around on Illium. Even more than the Citadel, Illium was amazingly well developed. Visually, it felt like a city of the future. The little touches of being able to help a woman who missed her daughter's father and a man worried about the future of his family were fantastic. Illium specific news items and advertisements gave us insight into Asari beauty rituals, consumerism, and sense of racial identity. The conversations you could overhear ranged from hillarious (the Quarian and the Turian discussing dating) to thought provoking (the Asari and Salarian's different reasons for joining Eclipse) to heart breaking (the Salarian desperate to make sure his Asari mate will remember him when he's gone). Matriarch Aethyta was the icing on the cake.
Ilos: One word. Vigil. Forget the urgency of the mission or the quality of the level design. Or the creepiness of those Prothean statues. It all comes down to Vigil. Finding out that, as awesome as Shepard and his squad is, that the battle against the Reapers began long, long ago and hinged on the lives of a small group of Protheans willing to sacrifice their lives was mind blowing. As a twist, it didn't feel artificial and knowing I had the support of a people long since dead gave me resolve. Best of all, Vigil was wonderfully voiced.
Unhappy, Far-Off Things: One of the parts I hated most about ME2 was the lack of contact with Hannah Shepard (for my spacer born Shepard). Meeting Zabaleta involved no combat and very little in the way of fetching and carrying but it gave me insight into who Shepard was and where Shepard came from. Hannah Shepard's voice actor did an amazing job of making her sound strong but caring. The perfect mother for the Shepard I was playing. If Hannah, the captain of a dreadnought, doesn't come into play in ME3? I will be very put out.
Least Favorite (again, in no particular order)
Grunt - Right of Passage: The rite of passage is essentially slaughtering your way through a Krogan petting zoo? Really? Everything I had learned about Krogan up to that point told me they were a people who valued cunning as well brute strength and the ability to buy heavy weapons. Grunt's loyalty mission had more to do with how many missiles I brought that any worthiness on his part. Don't get me wrong. I loved Tuchanka. It gave fascinating insight into Krogan culture, but Grunt's rite of passage didn't match the nuance that flavored the Krogan brutality Tuchanka showed me.
Arrival: As a concept, Arrival had promise. In execution, I felt I was tied to the front of a train and shoved down the railroad tracks... and that train had to jump too many plot gaps for credibility. Ignoring, for the moment, the fact that I had no choice but to have Shepard commit mass murder there were still too many problems. If the Alliance team were indoctrinated why did they finish the project to destroy the mass relay? If they were indoctrinated, why did Kenson really leave the asteroid? Why didn't the indoctrinated Alliance team dismantle the asteroid's engines during the time Shepard was unconscious? I applaud Bioware for trying to come up with DLC that truly bridged the gap between Mass Effect 2 and 3 but this could have been better executed.
Most Cerberus Given Missions: I'm not a big fan of Cerberus. So, being given missions to help them out annoyed me to no end. Now, I appreciate that in some case it worked against them. I was able to send sensitive Cerberus information to the Alliance and send poor Daniel to Grissom Academy but other times I was just retrieving data for them with no real choice. I'm looking at you, Firewalker.
Firewalker: I didn't hate the Mako. Heck, I wish I could have grabbed the Mako from the SR-1 crash site. It was obviously in good shape despite the crash. I didn't like the Hammerhead. I agree. Glass tank.
Noveria: I'm not talking about level design or quests. I'm not talking about story or world development. Those were all fine. Fantastic, in fact. No, Noveria was ruined, for me, by the very end of the mission. When Benezia opened her mouth. Marina Sirtis is a capable actor and has, in the past, delivered strong voice acting performances. Here, though, it is clear that she came in, read her lines, and left. Benezia's delivery was flat and monotone, lacking in emotion, and made me feel no empathy for the character or for her final farewell to her daughter.
