Anyone who thinks that the Mako is good should take their nostalgia goggles off.

Let that thing rust on Alchera.

I just played ME1 a few weeks ago. Still love the Mako. Still hate the Hammerhead.

The Mako felt like an actual piece of in-universe technology. The Hammerhead felt like it came out of a different game.

I could argue that given it's maneuverabilty and homing missile technology, the Hammerhead would be the troop transport of choice in the ME universe.

But I won't, because they both kind of suck.

I like the Mako I just wish it had more weight to it. The Hammerhead is fine but it could use better defenses and a secondary firing option.

I was talking about its silly sound effects and triple-jumping. It handled like something out of Jak & Daxter.

Actually, the reason I hated the mako was because combat boiled down to: fire main gun--->spam machine gun--->jump over missile over and over and over and over and over.

That's a hell of a lot better than combat with the Hammerhead: Stay out of range, hold down firing button.

As for the Mako returning, I wish it would. It probably won't, but I really wish it would.

Normandy SR1 crash site is a good place to come to peace with the death of the Mako.

The Mako was good, far better than the Hammerhead imho.

I think it's like this: The Mako was mean't to be driven the Hammerhead was mean't to fly/bounce.

I use the term fly loosely though as it was more akin to a vehicle equiped with epileptic fits/seizures modules. You never drove the Hammerhead really you bounced it around the environment. The Mako was more realistic of combat ground based vehicle vs the jump frog bouncy bouncy paper mache Hammerhead which didn't have a clue what role it was supposed to play. I think their ideology in making it was along the lines of "derp derp, lets just stick rockets and boosters on something".

Concurred. I never had problems driving it, and I drove it on 360.

Is there any announcement yet whether HAMMERHEAD or MAKO is in the game or not???

If they are present in ME3 I would have loved to hear the devs opinions regarding them....
If not present then this will stop the debate...for now atleast :P

Mako was alright too.

I'm not gonna lie though, my favorite vehicle in the games as far as fun goes is the LoTSB aircar.

Mako was tons of fun though. Featherhead was lame.

I had no issue with the Mako or the uncharted worlds. Some of those views of the skies from the surface was awesome. I say lets have some good ol' ground vehicle action in ME3.

Besides, I miss watching multiple flaming bodies of enemy infantry getting flung into the air, thanks to my main gun. Heh.

If the Hammerhead wasn't a glass hammer, I would like it more.

It's ironic, but some of the ME1 uncharted worlds engagements would've been a perfect for the Hammerhead, as it stands now. Many of the Overlord and Firewalker fights would've been better suited for a tough beast like the Mako.

Loved the Mako, never really had a problem with the controls. Hammerhead was soft as tissue paper with a punch to match.

I hope the bring back the Mako or something like it. It made worlds feel so big. You land, drive in, battle past defenses, take out watch towers and other things, get out and go the rest of the way on foot sometimes. Or like on Noveria where you drove from the city to the labs. The worlds just seemed like worlds.

It lost something when a shuttle just flies you into a compound as if these places have no defenses and just drops you off, then picks you up. Just makes everything seem so small and confined.

@Phaedon> ok agreed...bt still the solution to that is not removing the MAKO completely....like they did in ME2.....surely there must be a way to make it less "annoying"... atleast it'll better than that silly mining game, that was more boring than the MAKO in ME1....btw is that coming back do any of you know???

If you want the Mako to be agile, it will be bumpy.

The Hammerhead can be improved, the Mako, not really.

Imo.

I disagree phaedon. There is always something to improve, and even then the mako only had trouble due to wonky physics and the random bumpmapping of ME1 worlds.

In any case I prefer the mako over the hammerhead because it feels much more like an actual... Military vehicle than the hammerhead ever will. I remember watching a ME3 trailer recently, and seeing a few battles in action. All the vehicles looked built for battle, heavy (save for the fighters) and when I look at the hammerhead... I remember how it felt it really made me miss the mako.

Most of it is nostalgia (well not nostalgia, I still play ME1 from time to time and usually I just dick around in the mako) but I don't like the hammerhead, and while it can be improved I don't think i'll ever full like it.

I will grant that the hammerhead feels like it suits shep for his needs, especially if he isn't going to get stuck in combat though.

I agree again fully, even though I play on the PC version. On almost all worlds where you can use the Mako, there are clearly marked paths on the terrain which you can take to avoid driving over mountains all the time. Sadly it appears as if 90% of those who played ME1 failed to recognise this.

Onto another question: What's the status regarding exploration in Mass Effect 3?
Will vehicle exploration akin to ME1 be back? How will it be done? There hasn't been any information regarding exploration since June or July, isn't it time for some news?

Rather have the Mako than the Hammerhead, but I'd rather not have uncharted worlds....

The Mako= Combat.

The Featherhead= Exploration.

While exploring, you'll likely get into combat.

Logical winner=Mako.

At least for me its logical. Hah.

That or just get me an Aircar with guns and armor. Good God that would kick ass.

I agree. Only reason I like the hammerhead (slightly) more is because of the maneuverability. I would still love it if they got rid of both though.Image IPB

They do want it to be the best ever, that's why they want the Mako back.

Duh.

I don't suppose they'd do the logical thing and give us the happy medium of a vehicle with the firepower and defense of the Mako and the maneuverability of the Hammerhead?
