I dislike them in Dragon Age - because they are not only not attractive or somehow mystical , but are also prideful and stupidly 'locked' in their ways, unable to understand that their always brought them where they are now and will lead them on to their doom.
In Silmarilion i wanted Melkor to destroyed and enslave them. I despise their characters- Thingol an arogant moron and that ruler of Gondolin is totally "emo blind" too - can`t see that his son Mor'...'"forget his name" is already looking over his own sister/cousin. And LOL at Feanor - utter loser, Melkor owns his father, stole Silmarils, let Ungoliath suck out Trees of Valinor and he just proclaims him Morgoth and when he tries to avenge his father get owned right away by first Balrog - GOOD JOB man!
I also disliked elves in Warcraft - all of them. Despite playing BE paladin for most of my time in WoW, i find their characters to be weaklings, and although not as stupid as elves from Dragon Age or D&D, I somehow find it to my liking when Arthas is kicking their 'backs' 24/7. (Warcraft 3 /TFT of course, WoW story is blind heresy and anything from AQ gates opening as if dose`t happen)
Illidan got owned, Sylvanas got owned, and Kael'thas not only got owned, but Arthas even screwed his "dream girl" and murdered his Father - Arthas for President!
In the Elder Scrolls i don`t like original elves either. I think i played some of the new elven races for females, but can`t remember the name. But that was in Oblivion, and even with mods elves can`t hold it against that last vampire mods, those looks almost totally like from Witcher 1 CGI pictures. In Skyrim, i hate elves - i played Nord and hated them, and now i play Imperial and i hate them. And actually at first i thought i will play High Elf but then when i was in game it all completely changed.
In D&D i and almost all of my friends loved Drows. I guess we are all masochists, considering that they are *hardocre* Matriarchal society.
Iin W40k i like Eldar, they are good, although they need to rethink what they doing like the elves in DA. Harlequins got it covered good however. On the other hand - Dark Eldar are best by far best elves ever made in any story/franchise. Characters like Vect, Lilith Hesperax, that Archon girl with crystal heart, and Arhra - bloodthirsty, sexy, mass murderers that how the elves should be!!!

So no, I don't hate elves, from any game or realm. Any characteristics that they display, like pride or narrow-minded focus, are characteristics found in most mortal beings - and thus is not any reason, imo, to cast hate upon them, but perhaps simply a reason to not consider them friends.

I do not mind the elves of DA and WarCraft. Don't mind the Eldars of Warhammer 40K (dislike the Dark Eldars however, chaos wannabes in my eyes).
My favorite elves that I actually like are those of the Witcher series, in large part because I feel they are closer to humans than the other incarnations.

Granted, I was reading Tolkien's The Hobbit and watching the cartoon movie of it when I was a kid, so that influenced my view on dwarves and elves. Always liked the dwarves based on the thirteen traveling with Bilbo Baggins. Even named my Noble after their leader. Thorin Oakenshield.

It would be good for once, to see male elves that look more masculine. I liked what I saw a bit in the witcher 2

Something like that ? Yes, definitely, I could play one of them.

One of my favorite portrayals of elves aside from DA is the tongue in cheek treehugging emo hippies that they are in the Overlord games:
Elf #1: Oh, brother, how lucky we are, to live in the bounteous green bosum of Evernight.
Elf #2: Aye, my friend, we are. Let us pray to the Mother Goddess.
Elf #3: For although she is a cold and uncaring harlot, undeserving of worship, she alone will listen to our woe, our sorrow, and our poetry!

do you hate elves. both dalish and city one and im not only talkin about Da series but also about THE Elder scrolls where elves are serious jerks. Im talkin about elves in overall.
Most elves in DA are fine, the Dalish are somewhat hostile but that's understandable given the situation that they were forced into. Elves are portrayed mainly as victims in the Dragon Age games.
As for TES, I disagree that elves are jerks. Most High Elves we see in game belong to the Thalmor who are generally jerks, but you have to realise that the Thalmor were a minority voice amongst the High Elves until they were given extra powers to quell the Oblivion crisis. So I don't think their views are truly representative of the High Elves. Also some of the non-Thalmor High Elves are bros, look at Legate Fasendil- www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Legate_Fasendil for example. So you can't claim that the entire race are jerks.
As for Bosmer and Dunmer, I got on with most of the ones I met in Skyrim. Falmer are pretty screwed up, but that's only because the Nords and Dwemer screwed them over and forced them to live underground as slaves.

Hate ? No, in general, and I like their background ( dalish ) in DA. In DA, I can play female elves, but never male elves... They look weak, effeminate, I cannot feel connected to them... Like said Camenae, not my cup of tea.

A bit like Skyrim's elves too maybe-

I'm slightly more fond of the city Elves, despite the fact they seem to have a major lack of respect for themselves. Again, not painting all with the same brush, but living in filth and squaller under human rule doesn't scream out "We're doing well for ourselves!".
I know they're not given a great deal of opportunity, but in my opinion they are given far more then the Casteless. They have been living like this for centuries. Time to get your crap together, Elves.
