You know you can just refuse their advances, right? :)

Having males making sexual advances on me is an uncomfortable situation even if i refuse them...

Way to be insecure precious:mellow:

You be quiet with your sissy "let it go" talk. Shepard punching out something the size of a truck is totally plausible, but a girl doing it? Now that's just plain crazy. Dang politically correct feminists ruining the believability of my video games. I'm going to go online and complain about it.

I can't quite figure out if you're being sarcastic here...

Well... i identify with the guys who say it's hard to play female, ever since KOTOR.

When i play RPGs i try to put myself on the spot primarily, and with all the male characters hitting on "me"... just makes me sick to my stomach... never could conclude a female playthrough in any game and as of ME2 (specially with imports) i gave up and never even tried...

If you can avoid hitting on Jacob its worth giving it a try.   Just pick neutral dialogue options with him and your femshep won't start  coming on to him.

While I don't identify with my femshep quite as closely as I do when I'm playing as a male and generally think of them as more of a character; but I still feel really uncomfortable seeing my character hitting on men.

The game should really make it more obvious, so you can avoid those dialogue options.

Really? Darn. Next time I'll have to ramp up the blatant hypocrisy.

I'm going to be rolling out a FemShep Vanguard playthrough soon, mostly to see if it will affect the way I make my decisions. When I played DAII, I found it oddly more natural to play a FemHawk rather than the male version (which changed everything I did). I do what makes sense to me for the story. However, DAII was the first game I've ever done this with and it's taken me this long to make the decision to pursue it with the Mass Effect games.

The only issue I have is with the romance aspects, which many on here have also identified as being difficult. However, at those points I just go with what feels right for the situation.

I play femshep since I'm a female space commander from the future myself. You people must be totally weird to roleplay something you're not in a game.

Yeah me too. How awesome it when you're in a crowd and you can become a biotic wrecking ball into instantly teleport to the other end.

Dragon Age 2 was pretty bad when it came to characters coming on to you out of the blue; but it was at least clear about which dialogue options would continue or end the romance.

Its not always so clear in ME2.  Mainly you need to be careful with Jacob, there are a number of dialogue options which merely sound friendly when you read them on the dialogue wheel; but which come out as really awkward and blatant flirting when Shepard starts speaking.

So long as you keep to the neutral dialogue options with Jacob you'll be fine though since neutral dialogue options never lead into romance in ME2.

PS:
The same goes for Miranda if you're playing as a guy.  Not flirting with Miranda can be difficult if you don't stick to the neutral dialogue options.

I'm a male who plays a Femshep, and i do for various reasons.
  • The option is there.
  • I prefer Hale voice to Meer's.
  • The default generic badass dude who saves the world (as we see in so many movies or games) tend to be boring to me, so a female lead action character seems really cool to me.
  • When you have to see the same character on your screen about 99% of the time i think it's better when it's a good looking one. And while males are not good looking, there is only one other choice. (:innocent:)
  • I tend to prefer fast and sleek characters gameplay wise and i think female characters fits better with this style, and that even if there is no real differences between genders in the game.
  • Lesbian scenes !

Oh the **** cares? I don't...

To each their own, props to those who play both genders. If you don't that's cool also...you brought the game, you can play it as you see fit.

THE END.

Dude here. For me, the trick is to imagine that I'm suddenly not FemShep and that I'm actually Kaidan (or whoever you're romancing). I don't know about you, but I'm very attracted to FemShep, both mine's appearance and just the idea of such a kick-ass, capable, charismatic, and compelling woman.

Anyway, that's how I get through the M/F romances when playing as a female.

Honestly, too much work when i can simply pick the dudeshep and play naturally...

I've never really seen someone of my sex
making an advance on me as any more uncomfortable than if it had been
someone of the opposite sex whom I'm not attracted to doing the same
thing. Have you tried playing it off like that?

This is also uncomfortable, specially when you have to see her everyday...
even then, i don't have to share bathrooms at gym with them (the girl i rejected).

I will add this most gay guys are very polite and considerate of your choices, if you wanna be left alone they will leave you alone, if you are cool with some jokes they will share a laugh with you whatever the topic.

Wow I didn't realize so many guys would find it uncomfortable getting man love as femshep. I have the Liara LI myself, but I thought it was cute that Kaiden and Jacob hit on femshep, fair play to em/.

Would it be more believable if she had more muscles and didn't look like a super model?

You find it hard to believe that many heterosexual males would not want to play as a woman while wanting men to hit on them?

I don't even.

I'm a straight male, and I have an equal number of male and female Sheps. Love them all. Nothing wrong with it. I created my favorite Female Shepard(Athena, Paragrade Adept) just cause I wanted to romance Thane. Femshep is as much a bad*** as Maleshep. Plus I've had a crush on Jennifer Hale since Bastila Shan opened her mouth!

I think I just thought of another Femshep to create... Bastila Shepard!!

I'm a guy who prefers playing femshep, she has that Samus Aran/Ellen Ripley/Janeway from Voyager/Kira from DS9 vibe. Femshep just seems to make Shepard a more rounded character. Though I also like playing the maleshep to, just default though, it looks the best for the male shepard.

All femshep all the time.

1. I can play a male space marine in about two dozen other titles.

2. Women are more aesthetically pleasing than men. Seriously what is with Shep/Taylor/Krios having little waists and shoulders wide enough to make navigating doors difficult?

3. I play very Paragon and Infiltrator. I see the kindness, trying to find a peaceful solution, and deadly precision as more characteristic of female.

4. Garrus. Romancing Garrus. Joking with Garrus. Need me a piece of that turian butt.

5. In real life I'm certainly in no way, shape or form a manly man. And really don't have any inclinations to become one.

I'm a guy but I play both b/c because I can. I don't see what the problem is with BW giving us variety in how we build a character.

Female who exclusively plays female characters when the option is available. The boyfriend exclusively plays males. Both of us prefer to interact with all environments as our respective genders. I love being a woman and I completely lack any desire to experience anything, virtual or not, as a male. On those occasions when I'm curious how an average male may respond to a given stimulus I ask the boyfriend his opinion and I'm satisfied with that.

Using different wording, I only RP characters in whose shoes I would walk for a day if given the chance. So yeah, if I could be a fallen Jedi for a day, I sure as hell would, just to see what it would be like (provided I wouldn't die). I have no interest in being male for any amount of time.

When a female option doesn't exist.. well, the game is less engaging, far less immersive, and I don't RP the character, but the story can still be enjoyable (ex. Zelda games).

I've got a play through with each class. 4 female and 2 male. As a male gamer I've been a fan of Hale since KOTOR. I really like how her voice in its own way brings the character to life and femshep is a prime example of this talent. That and I just love tough women who can be the hero just as good as the guys. Be it KOTOR, Dragon Age, Jade Empire, Fallout, Skyrim, Mass Effect or any other game where given the option to choose, I'll primarily play a female character.

My roommate for example is the exact opposite. Militantly so. He teases me for having "gender issues" for playing female characters in games. LOL!!!!
