I'm a dude who play primarily as femShep because Jennifer Hale is voicing her. Plus, I like to watch ladies kick ass.

Nothing against Mark Meer. I just so happen to be a fan of Jennifer Hale from her previous works (Naomi in MGS, The princess baddie and the teacher in Power Puff Girls, and many others). And yes, I did watch Power Puff Girls when I was a kid.

so, i'm struggling to decide which one to start ME3 with, in my opinion these are the pros and cons:

Pros for female
Femshep has a better voice in my opinion, hale is just the better voice actor

I can't seem to make a decent looking male shep, all 3 of mine looked badass in the creator, but
as soon as he's braught to life he looks deformed and ugly, never had that problem witth femshep

Pros for male
I want to see what happens in ME3 when you romance tali more than anyone else

I feel that the male shep fits the role better, and playing fem shep will lead to some awkward times (like the vega fist fight ect)
so what should I play first? opinions

I play both (my playthroughs are split even). But I prefer femshep. Better voice actress and there's not enough games with a female hero.

As a female I mostly play femSheps but I also enjoy playing male characters because it's kind of fun, and I am allowed to explore the game more. I suppose that's because I am not playing a character that is me but rather characters that I thought of and I roleplay them.

I don't know why, but almost every game that gives me the option I play a female character. I prefer a badarse chick over a badarse dude. I don't think either is better. Just a preference. To each his/her own.

I play both sexes. I have 10 Shepards. 6 Male and 4 Female. It just gives me more depth to my characters.

Male, and my only completed playthrough is with Fem!Shep. Hale's voice-acting is one factor, as is simple attraction. I also just like the idea of having the galaxy's greatest badass being a woman, subverting normal expectations.

I find guys who play as females in any game pretty disgusting.
It is one of those indicators for discerning if you would ever want to hang out with such a person, just like being a jesus-cultist is. You simply can't trust people who believe magic is real because ignorant, primitive, illiterate people who lived in pre-scientific era said so, how could you?

Likewise, the mentality of people who play as females is not something I want near me.

I have no problem playing females in games. I however cannot stand FemSheps voice. Jennifer Hale is not a bad voice actress but I just can't stand her voice in this game. I've never been able to get a FemShep past noveria.

Never played it, I will however agree with you.  I don't watch a lot of ME runs on youtube because her voice just sets me off.

Can't complain about staring at a females ass, only reason I made one in Fable 3.

It's both, trust me. If you've seen any of his other posts, you know it has to be both. I seriously don't get how we lose GMagnum, but are still stuck with guys like that.

Anyway to the op, yah I really don't see the problem with a guy playing femshep. I mean there are female leads in games like bayonetta and tomb raider, but then in most any rpg like the elder scrolls series or dragon age, you can play as a female. It's just experiencing the story in a different way. I have multiple saves as male and female. It's not because I'm weird or need moar eye candy, I just wanted to see some of the unique dialogues and hear the other voice actor, as well as really distinguishing my second shepard (female) from my first shepard (male) to give me two playthroughs that were as polar opposite as possible.

I like both, but generally use the man for my main playthroughs of any RPG. Shepard's gender doesn't make the story any better or worse and I like both voice actors equally.

My cannon shepard is Male and I tried to make my choices based on what I would really do in that situation.

In the other hand, all my other shepards are female, at least FOR ME, Jennifer Hale voice acting is WAY superior than Meer's... specially for renegade choices.

In my last playthrough I tried to create another male shepard, but I couldn't stand Meer's acting for much longer than an hour... he sounds too stiff and talks way too fast for my taste.

I have multiple reasons for playing a female shep.

1. I'm male but playing female protagonists is refreshing.

2. Usually female characters seem easier to create in Bioware games.

3. The female form is more aesthetically pleasing to look at the entire game than the male form.

4. It seems more badass for a female character to kick everyone's ass instead of the male. You don't see it too often and when you do its awesome.

I play both, right now I'm playing with femshep, just because it was "her turn".
both actors make a fantastic work, but I like a bit more Meer.

I am a guy and I picked FemShep right from the start. I have replayed both ME and ME2 a few times under several classes (s well as the paragon/renegade paths) and I never regretted it. FemShep kicks ass, has attitude and looks great. MaleShep... I tried twice with him, both paragon and renegade, but he simply lacks the charisma I expect from his role.

I like stories with strong female characters, so I tried both Sheps. I found I prefer mShep for Paragon and fShep for Renegade, Meer´s voice sounds gentler, while Hale´s is more ruthless, even when she´s supposed to be compasionate.
