I like a challenge but I want my first playthrough for a sense of realism, and veteran is that for me. No doubt I'll do a million insanity runs afterwards.

Probably veteran or hardcore. Have to check the difficulty on my current playthrough as it seems just right for me now.

While I love a challenge, BioWare made it clear that their difficulty system would be revamped to make the game even more challenging than its predecessor. I'll try Veteran or Hardcore. I'll have to tone it down from Mass Effect 2's Insanity difficulty should that be the case.

If, like ME1 and ME2, there's an achievement both for finishing on Hardcore and Insanity, I'll do Hardcore first. If there's only one for Insanity, I'll try that first. If there's NO difficulty achievement (Yay!) I'll do a coin toss between Veteran and Hardcore.

normal, which is the baseline experience.

of course I'll do an insanity NG+ run later on

Normal is too easy for me, so I play on Veteran, which is still pretty damn easy to be honest, I might go for Hardcore.

The easiest. I just want to enjoy the story and combat, without dying all the time.

will it be possible to play on insanity right off the start?I thought it had to be unlocked after your first playthrough?

It's been confirmed that Insanity is unlocked right away (just like in ME2).

I do not see any reason to play on anything but Insanity to be honest. The first playthrough is always the longest and full of surprises...might as well add the best combat mode in the mix.

For a speed run to get to the ending.

The more I see the more I think, "Hellloooo, Story Mode." The combat in 2 was bad enough on normal with my squad already sending me into rage mode almost every shootout. Add in broken cover and annoying, OP enemies and I finally just said "F*** it" and put it on casual. I don't find enjoyment in stressing myself out playing a game. Period. Yes, I love shooters, but ME2 had so many issues that just kept adding up for me.

I'm going for Insanity right away, just like ME2.
I don't really like when games lock the maximum difficulty :/

Ehh Normal for my first, then with the same character Insanity. I want to enjoy the story, not get bogged down with a boss or something. Besides Mass Effect 2 had some BullS**T when I did Insanity. I could only imagine what could happen in Mass Effect 3. O_O

What is this 'Not-Insanity' difficulty you are talking about?

Insanity and only Insanity. I don't want my fight for the galaxy to be a walk in the park.

Propaganda being spread by the BSN, don't listen to it.

Hardcore, with Insanity saved for NG+ if the endings don't suck.

I don't want to have fought that hard and put that much effort in only to be rewarded with dissatisfaction and disappointment.

I play on normal first. I want to enjoy the game without the frustration that insanity and hardcore bring.

Once I've played through the game a few times and learned how best to dominate then I'll up the difficulty. That way it's challenging and fun.

Probably Insanity.
