He could be mixed-race. I think that's supposed to be more common in ME than in present-day, although I'm not sure.

In Revelations it says that mixed races are very common since the unification of Earth. It was referring to Anderson's appearance and how he was mixed.

I think Udina is a way more interesting "black" man (don't know his ethnicity but he's black/brown).

Udina is not black. At all.

Or they just didn't know how to write an interesting non-stereotypical black man.

Don't see how it would be any different from writing any other character.

Jacob might have been better than eh if they'd just removed that giant stick from up his rectum.

Do any of you know how to kill off Garrus and Tali at the SM? I want to replace them with ME2 characters in my PS3 version.

Pick Garrus for the vents and pick Tali for leading the fire team.

They don't get replacements though.

Tali and Garrus are squadmates in ME3.

ME3 squad = ME1 squad with a couple new people (but no Wrex). No ME2 exclusives, which I think is incredibly stupid, but we shan't delve into that.

They don't. And you don't get new squadmates either, AFAIK.

How do you know that they do not get replaced if they die in ME2?

Dev statements. Leaked script. Common sense.

If I had my way TEam Dextro would be off teh team and doing more important thing than aking orders from Shepard, Garrus should have roots wih the Turians like Tali does with the quarians. They should be capable leaders not staying static as Shepard squadmates. stattic characters are bad characters.

Chris Priestly said that the leaked script was old script. And what dev statements are you talking about.

It was from a while back; sorry, I don't know where to find it. Anyway, the leaked script is complete enough that you can tell they aren't putting in replacements.

A more sensible squad for me would be to replace liara with jack/samara and tali with legion/Kasumi/another engineer. It really doesn't matter which character I like anymore because it is by that reasoning tali and garrus are returning(big fan base). But no biggie, really. I think I can reason why the others won't return and i'm fine with meeting new squaddies.

So if this is a complaint topic... I may as well do it right. Axe Tali and Garrus. I'm just sick of them. Seriously, Wrex, Ashley and Kaidan were my favorites in ME1, and Mordin, Jacob and Legion were my favorites in ME2. It sucks that all the characters I liked are whisked away. 2 of them will NEVER get the chance to interact despite it's possible for both of them to be alive and in the squad simply because ONE of them will always be dead. And Wrex is supposedly too busy to join!? How is HE more busy than Liara!? I mean... WTF...? I'm serious on this one.
Then, two of my least favorites from ME1 are crammed in my party for not one but two more games just because... "lol everyone else likes them." Well sorry Bioware. Geez. Mordin I get why he might not be able... Because he's old, but come on, Jacob and Legion at least need to get something. Plus I just have these horrible, god awful vibes that the only character I bothered to romance on a first playthrough (Jacob) will have a crappy, crappy VS level "romance" in ME3.
I really hate this. As my least favorite party members are being put in the party overall. Here's hoping that I can use VS and Vega most of the game. Screw biotics. I'm going to rock some soldiers and an Engineer. Spoilerific chick just isn't my thing. Sorry. I liked her when she was just a  NPC rather than a henchman. Other dude I guess could be cool. So he's my only hope I guess for some biotics that I might actually feel more than "indifferent" to. I never thought I'd go into a game feeling "eh" about the characters because I already know them. It's like... Having a season of one of your favorite shows concentrate on all the people you don't really like...
Hopefully the gameplay makes up for it.

Ideally, my party would be like this:

VS
Vega - Is the class of dead person.
Miranda - I know she isn't my favorite character, but I'd rather have her here because of the whole Cerberus thing.
Jacob - Because Jacob is in there with Miranda. Plus they are like bread and butter. They go well together.
Legion -  Legion has a lot to say, it'd be nice if he could do more seeing how short of a time we had him.
Kasumi - Her graybox arc seems interesting enough to make her a full fledged squaddie.
Feron - As Liara's go getter for Sheperd. Make him an infiltrator type.
Extra - Anyone you choose before the end. That'd be cool to have a player choice character. Specifically if everyone else is locked, you'd have no problem with squad banter. So people could even have their Garrus or Tali if they wanted.

Static characters are not bad characters. Characters that you don't particularly love that don't go away on the other hand... It's understandable why'd they would drive you insane. Because it goes from:

ME1: Neutral.
ME2: Neutral but kinda annoyed.
ME3: Dislike.

And it doesn't help that the fandom feels compelled to rub it in your face that the characters you liked/wanted in the game aren't in it.

Hmm... I'm not too bothered by this since I'm in the habit of only use the same 3 or 4 people throughout a playthrough.

However, we met many interesting characters in Mass Effect 2 so I'd be severely disappointed if the majority of them didn't have some sort of "loyalty" mission and a temporary squad position.

As much as people might agree with this. these two characters have the largest fan base of anyone so it was to be expected they'd be squadmates again

I realize that, but their fans were already heavily satisfied in ME2. Not only they were perma squaddies, but also recieved romances fans were asking for. So don't you think it should've been someone else's turn this time? These 2 fanbases are not THAT big that they need to be satisfied over and over again at the expense of other fanbases, some of which are also very big.

This is very true. More ME2 exclusives should have been possible squadmates again. I still think they should have made it possible to have 8 to 9 squadmate slots and then you could pick who you wanted to be on your squad so everyone would be satisfied. I am still very annoyed that Legion, Mordin, Grunt (since Wrex isn''t available) aren't full squadies. But being as Garrus is my favorite squadmate and with Tali and Liara in the top 10 I would be lying if I said I wasn't happy they were squadmates again.

Hmm. I'd leave out Liara and A/K. Instead I'd have Wrex, Mordin and then Jack return as permanent members.

I'd really like Legion to come back, but he fills the same basic role as one of the spoiler mates, and I like that addition far too much to throw it out.
Zaeed and Kasumi would also have been nice to fill out into full squaddies, but there's just no room if we're keeping it a smaller, more content dense group.

Oh, yeah. Leave out Liara and the VS. The only ones who can't actually die so far. That makes sense.

The ME3 squad has left me hoping for numerous solo missions. That and that Sovereign had destroyed the Normandy SR1 back then, with everyone aboard dying a fieryand painful death, just moments before being brougth down by the rest of the 5th Fleet.

Lets see. Liara is fine, although I'm a bit confused as to how it will ultimately work out with her being the Shadow Broker and all.

A/K was to be expected from the go, hence no problem here from me (I'm interested in seeing if/how they have changed between ME1 and ME2).

Both and Tali and Garrus are admittedly fan service. I say admittedly, because I am in fact biased towards them but I could point the fan service out from a mile away. Hence, no problem from me.

James Vega, I like having a new character aboard, otherwise it would be ME1/ME2 all over again. We're yet to see how fleshed out he truly is though, so at the moment I'm fine with it (although I would probably have preferred a Krogan).

Female spoiler squaddie, dislike. Would rather have Legion or Kasumi or someone else, and if they have to be a "new" squadmate, someone else or a better concept. I don't like this one at all, but I'm gonna give it the benefit of the doubt for now until I play the game and assume the writing team did a decent job incorporating them in, given certain existing "conditions".

Male spoiler squaddie, like. Won't say much else, but it's a risky choice by Bioware. This character will either be outstanding and thought-provoking or it will fall flat on its face (like deception).

Did I forget anyone?
