The full reveal of the ME3 squad has been met with harsh criticism.  I myself participated in a few of the following:

"Baaawww, Team Dextro is stupid and overrated!  They add nothing to the story and are only on the squad because they're popular!"

"Baaawww, Liara should be the Shadow Broker doing Shadow Brokery things, not on the squad!  Bioware keeps forcing her on us!"

"Baaawww, Kaidan and Ashley are so boring!  It's so stupid that they're Spectres!  I wish I could've nuked 'em both!"

"Baaawww, James Vega is a Call of Gears of Jersey Steroids rip-off character!  He's so generic and stupid-looking!  Bioware should have given his slot to an old character!"

"Baaawww, the Protheans are supposed to be dead!  Having a live one ruins their mistique and breaks my suspension of disbelief!"

"Baaawww, giving EDI a body was so stupid!  She was so cool as the ship!  This whole sexbot thing is just stupid pandering to the mouthbreathers!"

"Baaawww, my favorite character isn't on the squad!  My favorite character could have added more to the story!  Bioware is showing favoritism towards the ME1 fans!"

Well, you know what?  Even though my personal favorites (Wrex, Mordin, and Legion) didn't make the cut, even though I think the EDI thing is stupid, I actually like the new squad, and I like the old squadmates in their new roles (for the most part).

And I know I can't be the only one.

So let's hear it for our ME3 crew, ladies and gents!  Show your support below by discussing either ME3's squadmates as a group, or by discussing the new roles of those that aren't on the squad.  A little intelligent criticism or expression of disappointment is welcome, but let's minimize the character bashing and try to keep the mood positive.

Please direct in-depth discussions of specific characters to their designated threads, and direct any all-out fanwangst here.

I love the sound of the ME3 squad, I wish there were more from ME2 but I assume they'll all have a decent role and a smaller squad means better character development, no more Garrus spending all day callibrating. I did notice how each conversation with the ME2 squad was alot shorter than the ME1 conversations.

Your comments always manages to bring me some smiles.

Anyway, the only squadmate I really miss is Wrex. Then the whole old ME1 squad would be back.

I also think that the Prothean brings some really interesting viewpoints to the story of the Protheans' downfall and struggle against the Reapers.

As a group, I think they're doing pretty well, by having two of pretty much all power types.

The combinations of the squadmates will also be pretty interesting to see. Both when it comes to dialogues and combat capabilities.

Just glad they are gong back to fewer squadmates but more conversation between them. I can see all the ones they left out having legitimate reasons not being with Shep permanently anyway.

You're not the only one :wizard:

I actually love the ME3 squad so far, I love Tali, Liara, Garrus, Ashley and EDI, I'll give a chance to Kaidan and James, and I'm really curious about Prothy.

I have no doubt that it will be another great ME cast, and I'm really looking forward to intereact with them, and see great squad banter.

I only got a problem with EDI and Prothy. Otherwise it looks like I will enjoy this squad.

And I dislike EDI's look, not her character. Excited for the Prothean and some witty, old fashioned talk from him.

Going to reserve judgement 'till I've played the game myself, but am carefully optimistic about the ME3 squad and the possibility of several favorite characters being used as temp. squadmates. I get that some people are angry that their favorites might have gotten 'shafted' by being reduced to mere ' temps'. But for me this means getting the chance to see characters I've spend time with and have seen 'grow'(and have grown attached to), follow their 'own' paths. To see how they grow and developed themselves after the time spend with my Shep. To catch up with that, however briefly, and enjoy that 'growth' and that nostalgia. Love that, to be honest.

So in short: Yeah, kinda like the squad and the way Bioware is handling the old ones.

(Forgive any and probably many errors in grammar and/or spelling. English isn't my first language!)

I've only had a brief glimpse of EDI's new look, because I try to avoid gazing at spoilers too long, but I thought it was pretty cool. I also always liked EDI in ME2, and I hope her powers complement Garrus's and mine well enough so that I can use her on an insanity run (but they probably won't).

Happy about my favorites returning as squadmates.

I haven't read any other posts on this thread to avoid spoilers, but I just want to say that I fully support the ME3 squad.

Had Wrex, Mordin, and Legion been on the squad, I would have pre-ordered the game twice.

It would have made sense to bring Miranda back if it weren't for what the rest of the squad can do.  Miri could have provided inside intel about Cerberus, but EDI and Liara can both do that.  She could have provided emotional support and loyalty towards Shepard, but we have Team Dextro + Liara for that.  She could have been the "sexy smart woman in charge," but EDI, Liara, and Ash all fill that role.  Her Overload/Warp double whammy would have been incredibly useful, but we've got Kaidan.

I'd be afraid that Miranda would be reduced to calibrations.  As much as I (and many of her fans) will miss having her aboard, I much prefer her on her own, working independently to bring down Cerberus and... that other guy she's got a grudge against.  She's a strong, capable woman finally doing what she thinks is right, on her own terms, under the command of no one.

I'm really happy with the squad, it seems balanced and makes sense. Well, maybe EDI doesn't make much sense, but I like her enough to not care. She'll probably end up being my most used character, aside from Kaidan.

I'm really happy with the squad! Sure I might've prefered to have Wrex or Mordin with me but i can settle for this with a smile on my face.

Pretty happy with the squad. Most of the old ME1 team plus EDI. Prothean and Vega i'll judge once i've played the game. I'd have liked Mordin, Wrex and Miranda in the squad but you can't have everything.

I'm 9999% agreed with this!!!  I rather have the Frankenstein monster or even Mr. Bean as squaddie than the 50k  years Prothy.

I support Prothy cause he reminds Liara of how insignificant she really is every 5 minutes. I do NOT support EDI because she isn't a 6 foot tall platinum blonde in a red dress. I support James Vega becuase he ripped a tv off the wall and beat up batarians with it.

Tali is alright, Garrus is definitely overrated. He was reduced to mere buddy-buddy status in ME2 by turning him into a parrot saying "just like old timez!" ad nauseum. Of course, fans love ego-stroking characters so that's won him points, heavens forbid they deal with people who don't love them like the turian councilor. The fact remains he lost character depth big-time that he had in ME1, was only worthwhile in ME2 if romanced tbh.

"Baaawww, Liara should be the Shadow Broker doing Shadow Brokery things, not on the squad!  Bioware keeps forcing her on us!"

BW's handling of Liara's character has been really poor. Having said that, they have an acceptable reason for having her back and I'm OK with it. Frankly I'm looking forward to her more so than Garrus.

"Baaawww, Kaidan and Ashley are so boring!  It's so stupid that they're Spectres!  I wish I could've nuked 'em both!"

Truth, its peoples' own fault if they can't see the depth in those characters.

"Baaawww, James Vega is a Call of Gears of Jersey Steroids rip-off character!  He's so generic and stupid-looking!  Bioware should have given his slot to an old character!"

Truth again. Worse, when people complain that he's not an alien on a human vessel.

"Baaawww, the Protheans are supposed to be dead!  Having a live one ruins their mistique and breaks my suspension of disbelief!"

They have a somewhat interesting character going there and maybe it'll feel in-place when I get there. Having said that though, you have to admit it just feels all too convenient that they suddenly awoke a live Prothean at just the opportune time and such.

Yet another reason why Shepard dying/resurrection proved to be a major dump on the plot. If we hadn't been-there/done-that already, this would have been unique and interesting. As is, feels like the usual arsepull.

"Baaawww, giving EDI a body was so stupid!  She was so cool as the ship!  This whole sexbot thing is just stupid pandering to the mouthbreathers!"

Agreed, not sure I get people saying "she was cool as the ship." The game never really presented her as the ship. If anything, they presented her more as crew (for which reason, I don't see how her new role is stepping on any toes).

"Baaawww, my favorite character isn't on the squad!  My favorite character could have added more to the story!  Bioware is showing favoritism towards the ME1 fans!"

lol.

You aren't, add Jack and Zaeed to the personal-favorites lists and you have my own as well. And I'm OK with EDI for that matter.

I'm fine with the ME3 squad. Really would have liked to have at least one ME2-unique squadmate on board for fun, but between Vega/VS/EDI/Liara I'm more than OK with the line-up.

I love the ME3 squad, obviously I will miss the ME2 especially Miranda, Jack, Thane & Legion but a new game need's change.

I'm super excited for the return of the VS.

I'm not a massive fan of Team Dextro but I'm glad to have them on the team. Same with Liara, not too bothered but EDI and Vega are going to be interesting.

Also Prothy, can't wait to use him.

So in all I'm looking forward to the ME3 team.
