So then you'll have 5 Squad Members
If Prothy will be DLC then not everyone will take it.
So then we'll have 4 Squad Members.
So if they die and you don't use the DLC option you will have to play the whole game with 4 Squad Members.
I think that will be pretty unlikely though....but those are my toughts

Prothy's level of badassery easily makes up for a lack of Mordin, Wrex, Grunt, Samara, Thane, and a second Shepard. Seriously the guy makes John Marston blush with envy.

Ash/Kaidan are decent I guess.
Liara would have made more sense as a NPC (i.e in the role of the Shadow Broker), but I guess her not being in would have f**ked with the squad balance. I don't think I'm going to use her that often, I'm not a big Liara fan or dependant on Adepts, for that matter.
Vega, nothing to complain about. Cool guy, cool voice actor, cool ability set. Looking forward to having him fight by my side.

Tali, well, meh. I have little to no interest in her seeing how she's constantly sidelined to make way for the quarian/geth conflict, but having her on the squad was inevitable thanks to her loud and obnoxious fanbase. Will probably use her less than Liara, but it'll be good to know that someone reliable is keeping EDI's big body healthy.
As for EDI's small body... well, not a fan of the look. At all. I mistakenly believed we would get a cyborg instead of an actual fembot. Plus, the "hair" just looks silly. But it's EDI, and I do love EDI.
