Do you make your own Shepard, or use the default?

I can only bring myself to create a custom female Shepard, because Hale's voice suits a lot of different looks. Whenever I try to make a custom male, he ends up looking scary, and his voice doesn't suit him. So do you guys create a custom Shepard, or use the default?

Always custom. I can't fully appreciate Shepard with the face of a slightly creepy Dutch underwear model.

Now that I know that, I think I might be sticking with custom males from now on.

I've generally gone with the default femshep face with different hair and a few minor changes, which probably doesn't really count as a custom face.

Terrible customization leads to me playing default MaleShep, it looks good to me at least. Never saw anything wrong with the default in ME1 so I've just stuck with it, its become my canon Shep just as much as anyone's custom.

Most of my Shepards are male Shep with default Sheploo face.

I use the default male Shepard face because the face creator sucks. I am also used to it by now, and it is THE Shepard for me. I made a couple of female Shepards, but since I easily prefer Meer to Hale, they have not seen much action.

Custom, but I may switch to default Femshep if she has an awesome model.

I normally play a custom Shep. I've used the default Sheploo a few times and liked it because it fit that character. The female Shep annoys the hell out of me so I don't play one. But when I do attempt to play a female Shep I always do a custom face, not that they really end up looking much different from the default FemShep anyways though.

Default Man Shep. ME's character creator is almost a luxury. I use the CCs for silent protagonists like TES or Fallout.

I always pick the default male Shepard face. I always customize the female Shepard faces since I don't care for the default one.

With ME3 I'll probably change my imports to the new default face for femshep. It looks much better.

Custom though i wish the default Shep served as the base we can tweak things from, he's got some features that can't be duplicated using the customization features.

I played Default Shepard so much that it's generally the only one I use. I might use a custom female Shepard soon, but yeah.

Yep. All the custom sheps end up looking like Cerberus did a botched facelift on a Ken doll.

Honestly if BioWare invested in a unique face model for FemShep, I'd play her exclusively. Instead the FemShep is created using the face generator, which is of lower quality. Makes me sad.

I go by default for a combination of three reasons: more detail, doesn't look unattractive, and lastly I can't do anything with the ME face generator if it could save my life.

For male Shepard, I always went with Sheploo, simply because the texture quality for custom faces is so much worse. The hair and skin of custom Shepard look like they're made out of rubber and wax, and the character creation utility is so limited. That, and so much of the marketing creates the impression that Sheploo is what Shepard actually looks like.

Custom - I always take the time to make my own characters, in every RPG with a creation element so from Oblivion, Skyrim, Fallout etc to Mass Effect and DA.

However, I may well take the dafault FemShep in ME3, to go alongside my four custom FemSheps from ME1-2. Redesigned ME3 femshep looks very good from the media so far, so it will be intersting to see how she holds up in game. MaleShep wise, I had considered keeping the default for a while (this was mainly from ME1) but decided on going custom and I have seven custom Sheps ready to go for ME3.

Bring on the demo Feb. 14th

Default. Current customization is horrible. Default looks more realistic, and the VA fits very well.
