Yep. There was some whining along the lines of "I don't want a Barbie Shep, I can't take her seriously with blonde hair." Apparently the exact same character is more serious with red hair. And green eyes. Can't have red hair without 'em. Or maybe blue eyes mean you can't be taken seriously, who knows.

It was clearly a result of the complaining, otherwise surely Bioware would have done separate polls for hairstyle, skin tone, etc.

It's not a big deal really. None of the Femshep designs are even that good, they looked slapped together to me. But the way BSN reacted almost made me lose all faith in this community. It was pretty pathetic.

The Only plossibal reason to complain to me seems that it would change from the first two preset femsheps. But even then it seems pretty ludicrous.

Everybody has heard stupid blonde jokes in their life and laughed at a few, but I was impressed by the amount of serious blonde bashing from women. It seemed quite crazy.

Yes the original fshep look who won was blonde not the red head then an anti blonde shep campaign began and BW revoted saying oh we only wanted you to pick the fshep you liked best the first poll now its the hair color but the problem was all fsheps look exactly the same only her hair and skin colors changed. So yes first time blonde won fair and squre then complaints from antiblonde movement occurred and redhead shep won round 2 but I'm still keeping my shep blonde anyway.

But the last 2 default fsheps were brown haired so its just as radical a change to make her default redhead in 3 as it is to go blonde.

I think it was a nice gesture to let us vote for how she looks. I like to fiddle with the customization, so chances are that I won't end up with the default FemShep. What is more important now that she is more in the marketing spotlight she may get some extra attention. Her walking animation certainly needed that. I think the team got the message by now. Let's see how it goes.
