I had a friend tweet my vote on Twitter in the first poll--chose red-haired/green eyes. Second vote came around and I wondered why, since there was one on Twitter. No matter, I voted for number one. I loved her short pixie cut. She didn’t win and I admit, I wasn’t happy with the blond winning. Not because I think blondes are dumb--I am a natural strawberry-blond and have dyed my hair blond on many occasions. I just didn’t think
my vision of female Shepard suited a blond. The default was red and I thought that suited her best and still do.
I remember the blond-haters and honestly, for all the media coverage about it, I would say on a whole the ohmygawdblondessuck crowd were a minority. I saw plenty--and I mean
plenty, of people stating they voted for the hair style only. She was the only one with longer hair. It made sense and considering that she won the first Twitter vote and the second vote by a landslide, I would say the notion of people wanting the hairstyle panned out. The blond didn’t even come in second. Honestly, I think it was stupid even to ask anyone to vote. They should have just left her alone and kept the default. All this hullabaloo over femshep is just asinine and does nothing but cause people to argue over feminism and the laughable (sorry, imo laughable) “blondes are so discriminated” tangents. At this point, I would be happy just to see something about the game itself. Femshep is a small drop in a large bucket, imho.
