Entirely quoting posts right above yourself is weird. Why do so many people do that? The worst is when the second post in a thread has a quote block of an especially ginormous original post.

Totally understandable given how oppressed you are.

You never actually said what you claimed you knew, All Dead, so he kind of has a point.

That is normal for the feminists here and elsewhere. They enjoy making sweeping statements that seem elegant and explicative, yet internally are entirely devoid of any real reason or content. You get used to it and moreover it was an honest question in this thread. I had heard rumours that certain people had been VERY vocal that blond femshep was a 'bimbo' that BW took her down and recast the vote. I saw this confirmed here.

Eternal, consider those last few posts like they were private messages posted publicly since they involve off-thread things (one of them even off-forum). Certain people know, he knows, and this makes it boring to 100% of everyone else who doesn't, so it's best to move on.

Just curious, though I'm pretty sure I know the answer: Do you actually think the term "feminist" is an insult, or is your usage intended to be some form of troll bait?

Remember folks, there is no abomination, no crime against nature so heinous as a not-fat, blonde person who happens to be female.

She is "not natural" and "not a real woman" and she isn't a human being or a depiction of a human being, just some sort of object there to make a sexual statement. Real life not-fat blonde women don't have feelings, and aren't championed by PCness, so you can go right ahead and casually hate their existence :). Go nuts. Gouge away.

There is nothing ironic about the fact we, as a community, would happily burn someone at the stake if they expressed the same kind of sentiments about someone for their deep sexual love of toasters.

Way back during the fiasco I believe I made a joking comparison of blondes to toasters(was ridiculing the insulting comments towards blondes).

When I saw you post toaster I was like, 'OH MY GOD, THE TOASTER COMPARISON CAME BACK."

I prefer the toaster in Red Dwarf, as I feel it has a greater emotional range, and a certain eagerness to please. That and I find intelligence highly desirable in a toaster.

My point stands about not-fat blonde women, however. It is OK to label people some sort of object devoid of a soul or an intellect if they look that way, to even require their removal.

It's indefensible TBH.

Yes. Crazy FEMSHEP STRONG!!1 feminist types complanied that blond hair was some sort of chauvinistic pro-aryan racism or something.

It was the perfect example of how insane this community is.

Maybe Bioware actually bought into that crap, maybe they pitied them because redheads have no souls, I don't know.

Or maybe...just maybe...society goes out of it's way to shove "BLONDE HAIR IS LEET!" down our throats at every oppertunity...and ppl are sick to death of seeing nothing but blonde hair all the time? Thats my reasons for hating it at any rate...

So, who complained?

People who were fans of the original default redhead FemShep

Seriously why does this matter so much to you?

They held a second poll, red hair won, deal with it

But seriosly what a thing to whine about. Humans are unbelievable. Frankly I would have prefered black hair, but you don't see me whining about it.

I complained. Whined really hard. I loved the hairstyle on blonde femshep but preferred the color red. I was one of the people to hop right on the bandwagon when they were asking if we the fans would like a second poll about the hair color. I as a fan said yes. Bioware decided to please me and many others by offering us a choice of hair color, since many of us said the same thing we chose the blonde for the hair style but preferred a redhead. Thank you Bioware I appreciate your efforts to please the fans even when it sometimes seems impossible.

I say this without meaning any disrespect to any blonde but I am Irish and I prefer to think of our lovely femshep as Irish

And those of you throwing around the word feminist I do not think that word means what you think it means.

A feminist is anyone who believes women should have equal rights.

@Julie: Irish as in descendence, or Irish as in "the corky bastards in Corcaigh"? Because I've not seen so many gingers in Ireland. I'm more like to think that FemShep was Scots or Scandinavian if I had to guess by looks alone.

You know, I have been thinking... and I'm afraid you don't see the whole picture. It's just hair color, and if the majority of people here play custom female shepard anyway... why is hair color so relevant, then? The only thing that remains the same is Jennifer Hale's voice, which in my opinion *is* what makes female shepard feel like female shepard.

everyone who voted blonde stated they voted for the hair style and didn't prefer Blonde. Bioware noticed that the majority kept saying so and decided to have a second poll. The 1st being Style of hair which was decided on.

The 2nd determined color. Blonde did not win.

Overall I didn't really care. I picked an entirely different Femshep all together so no skin off my teeth.

The sheer idiocy of women making statements like: 'The blonde bimbo won,' severely undermines the struggle we (women) have had to be treated as equals and not as catty jerks just staggers me. Why on earth any woman would willingly marginalize another woman's worth to what she happens to look like is just...ugh.

I had a friend tweet my vote on Twitter in the first poll--chose red-haired/green eyes. Second vote came around and I wondered why, since there was one on Twitter. No matter, I voted for number one. I loved her short pixie cut. She didn’t win and I admit, I wasn’t happy with the blond winning. Not because I think blondes are dumb--I am a natural strawberry-blond and have dyed my hair blond on many occasions. I just didn’t think my vision of female Shepard suited a blond. The default was red and I thought that suited her best and still do.

I remember the blond-haters and honestly, for all the media coverage about it, I would say on a whole the ohmygawdblondessuck crowd were a minority. I saw plenty--and I mean plenty, of people stating they voted for the hair style only. She was the only one with longer hair. It made sense and considering that she won the first Twitter vote and the second vote by a landslide, I would say the notion of people wanting the hairstyle panned out. The blond didn’t even come in second. Honestly, I think it was stupid even to ask anyone to vote. They should have just left her alone and kept the default. All this hullabaloo over femshep is just asinine and does nothing but cause people to argue over feminism and the laughable (sorry, imo laughable) “blondes are so discriminated” tangents. At this point, I would be happy just to see something about the game itself. Femshep is a small drop in a large bucket, imho.
