After reading this article on Game Informer I'm pretty excited to give this game a try.. I haven't played an XCOM game before but I'm loving the strategy aspect of this.

All I recall is that the random number gods despise you in each and every Xcom game.

I never played X-com but I'd like to. Be sweet if this came with a download of the original.

Still not entirely sure about the smaller squad and the removal of TUs. But let's wait and see...

So angry joe got a interview with the guys making it and asked a few questions about what these guys are doing with it.
I must say I Cant wait...Did anyone see that trailer with one of the Greys in front of a car and think of the X-files? Because I did. I was sold.

It's is a classic. But like I said in the other thread about it, I have lost all faith in the series. It has been milked dry and then milked some more. I am ashamed to say I got suckered into buying one of the horrible sequels (after Apocalypse). I'm not making the same mistake again.

Maybe, just maybe, if I try the new one somewhere first and it actually doesn't suck (which I highly doubt), I will give it a chance.

I'm sure there will be a demo or somthing for you try out. It looks like they are really making it in honor of the orginal. I played the orginal a bit but that was about it. I liked it, but I was always more of a C&C guy. I think this one looks really good.

I wont be getting involed with FPS one though. I am very tired of FPS's in general at the moment.

Edit:
@jreezy
Yea I enjoy angry Joe's rants..He does bring up good points during them as well.

You might want to look into Xenonauts.   Looks to be more true to the old X-Com than this reboot.

Demo is up on steam!

Two missions: one tutorial mission, and one pretty easy and linear early mission (I still lost one guy though, hehe). Also shows off a few things you can do in the base. I was also pleased to see that I could have soldiers from my home country, Norway! I'll make all my soldiers Norwegian and name them all Ola Nordmann. It's gonna be good.

Closest I've gotten to playing an X-COM game before was the X-COM scenario they included in the Civ II Multiplayer Gold Edition. But I'm pretty excited for this.

The demo is good enough- I wish it was a little longer since its mostly tutorial stuff but it gives enough of a feel for the game to sell me on it. Just wish the mouse controls didn't feel as laggy as it did.

The game runs very well just too bad it's so short. Still I might actually buy it sooner now.

Computer related maybe?

Controls were fine on my machine.

So glad I preordered this and the demo made me squee.

I'm already so psyched I already have an X-COM/Mass Effect crossover-mod-thing sketched out.

How geeky is that?

The controls were fine for me for the most part. Totally functional. Its just the mouse movements felt like the game had mouse smoothing on or something. A tiny bit annoying with the camera rotating being tied to q and e too, with how it felt a bit floaty. Would have been nicer if it was somehow tied to the mouse.

The compressed Bink cutscenes were annoying too but that just seems like something way too many developers do nowadays.

Can't wait to play the whole game though. One of the Firaxis guys was playing the game live with Giant Bomb today and it looked great. Between XCOM and Dishonored, October is looking good!

I don't know why but compressed Binks have never really ever bothered me. Though I'm definitely not a graphics guru, at least not in the typical sense.

I usually never turn AA on, for instance, and just play at my native resolution (which is 1920x1200). Rarely do I ever find myself noticing the pixels.

I'm considering doing my first ever Lets Play for XCOM though.

Psssh. I'm far too lazy to look THAT far back.

This necromancy is totally acceptable, however....
