Absolutely loving it so far. Normally remakes of classics never work. Im so glad this is not the case here! This game is awesome!!
So everything was going great for the first six missions. I been abusing Overwatch a bit since I have two heavy soldiers and a sniper. Turns out that tactic doesnt work on terror missions... needless to say with rockets and the urgency needed to rescue the civilians those Chrysalids made short work of my team... Oops
Thing is, im actually glad! Im sure everyone remembers getting owned by Chrysalids on their first ever Terror Mission on UFO Enemy Unknown and its just rekindled that memory!

I hope you'll forgive me for this as you are a mod and all but...
Holy. Sh!t.
How much damage that... thing deals?
A sizeable amount
I won't give too much more information than that, lest I spoil some of his surprises
Although in this situation I was able to destroy him before the end of the turn (and suppressed the muton that was off the screen to the north.
Though I did lose my awesome support (that had my medkits) on this mission. She bled out and I was one turn too slow on killing the last boss in the control room of the UFO. It was a mad dash to get there hahaha.

Any negatives to avoiding contact? Also, I lost Australia but I couldn't do anything about it. No missions were coming up for that region. Any possible way to get them back in the council?

Going to have to agree with you there. After all the less-than-stellar XCOM games that came out after Apocalypse (I loved Apocalypse for some reason), I had very low expectations. But the game is great!
I wish they would do THIS to Jagged Alliance 2 instead of... whatever it was they did

Those operatives you have up there, with the armor that has some green parts, is it the Titan?

What happens if you keep ignoring UFO attacks? Because um, I'm not strong enough and desperately trying to build a new line of fighters to handle them.

AFAIK the countries that were attacked will lose more and more faith on project XCOM up to the point where they leave the council. If eight countries leave, you lose. And IIRC, there's no way to get them back.

Yes, though the "green parts" is actually because I have plasma weapons equipped. I noticed some of the trim changes depending on what type of weapon you are using.

Ignoring UFOs ups the panic level of the nation. If a country ends the month at max panic level, they withdraw. As far as I know, a withdrawn nation is gone for good.
Note that it's okay to lose at this game
"That's XCOM" hahaha.

I have heard it's quite powerful, but only qualifies as medium armor (important for Assault bonus HP). Note that it still has the grappling hook.

I shot the UFO down and started encountering enemies like Elite Muton for the first time. Some tall skinny guy who could reflect shots too. I destroyed everything except the final enemy is on the top of the roof of the UFO. How the heck do I get up there??? I've been running around for a hour trying to figure out how to get up there. A massive robot sits up there and he sometimes pegs my squad but he's hard to get in my LOS to counter...

But sounds like a bug. The bot should have appeared in the room with the boss.

It wasn't an issue for me. It looked very much like a Large Scout UFO with some slight differences internally. Was able to capture the ethereal though \\m/

Sometimes UFOs have ladders and stuff to get up on the roof. Maybe that was the case?

I had a bunch of those jetpack beasts o the roof. Rather convenient, since they can come down on their own, since there is no ladder. I searched pretty thoroughly.
Got the Ethereal too! Nasty bugger mindcontrolled my heavy weapon colonel and laid down one hell of a laser show, before I got my assault trooper close enough to stun him.

Also: This was fun.
Convinced me that the AI doesn't cheat by knowing where I am. It flew right over the truck and right beside the three guys it had no idea were there.

I suppressed the jebus out of the ethereal. And the muton beside it. The ethereal did some sort of psionic blast to eradicate the Muton I mind controlled XD
It's always fun to see how casually the aliens murder each other as soon as you mindcontrol one of them.
I would never shoot one of my operatives! Even if my weapons are to weak, I shall win thanks to the power of friendship!

I tell you, when my operatives start to shoot friendship magic out of their chestpieces like the care bears, the aliens will be way more impressed!
