Haha! I have a heavy called Leroy 'collateral' Jenkins. What are the odds? Oh yes and is skeletal armour with the inbuilt grappling hook better or at least does it provide more protection than carapace armour? I'm thinking of using it for my 2 snipers on team 1.

Lol this is priceless, paint him full yellow now :)

Grapling hook is a handy toy. Dont exactly remember the armor difference but its a huge tactical leap.
Till you get squad sight :) Which is a cheat.

How do you use the grappling hook, anyway? I gave the skeleton armor to a few of my peeps, and placed them near objects where I assumed they could grapple, and the option never came up. I believe at the time, we were at a gas station, so I was trying to get them up above the pumps.

Finally got some Titan armor for all of my active squad last night, and did a couple of maps before bed. Archangel is next. I have it researched, but just need the cash and parts.

IIRC you select the grappling hook, and then try to order the soldier to move up to the roof.

It's the icon that looks like a Leviathan and a ship's anchor had a baby.  It's only useful for some "roofs."

Hehe, I know which icon it is. I assumed you had to use a combination of the grapple icon plus moving to the higher location, but when I try that, I don't get the option to do anything. It's been a while since I tried it; I'll give it another shot.

Haha, yeah. Assault troopers vs. Muton Berserkers are awesome fights. Reaction shots, close combat shots, the Berserker charging all the time and in the end there can only be one!

I love making the beserker ping pong back and forth between troops on one side of the field and the other and letting everyone in between take their reaction shots.

Wow just...ouch.

The aliens are smarter then I thought.
They are kicking ass in the air war. I mean I lost two fighters, a satalite and the US in one fell swoop.

The pricks.

Yeah, things seem to go much smoother once you get a plasma cannon for your interceptors. I have Firestorms in production atm, but haven't seen them in action yet.

On a different note, why does no one with a shotgun ever actually hit anything? Even on shots that have a high percentage, and the enemy is right in front of them, they always miss. I've started switching them over to assault rifles instead, and they seem to have better luck with them. Does the shotgun/aim combo get better with better weapons?

It gets much much easier once you upgrade to Plasma. And easier still once you get EMP. The Firestorms are indeed awesome, but until you get them online, those those one shot dodge items really make a huge difference for your interceptors survivability.

Yep - definitely! I had plasma cannons on all my interceptors when I was able to afford it. Then I started pumping out Firestorms once I had the necessary materials. They just make things SO much easier.

By now, I think the new recruits are drawing straws to see who ends up in slot #5 of the squad. It's cursed I tell you. Rest of the slots I keep veterans in, but not that one.

Last night it became apparent how handy Lightning Reflexes can be. My Assault troops usually turn into meat shields for the rest of the squad, so they get to run out and survey the area before anyone else. Being able to dodge the first overwatch shot is nice.

I'm curious, which do you guys typically choose for your Sniper class at Corporal level?

Corporal Abilities (choose one)
- Snap Shot: Removes the sniper rifle’s restriction on firing and Overwatch after moving. Any shots taken suffer a -20 Aim penalty.
- Squadsight: Allows firing at targets in any ally’s sight radius.

I like taking Snap Shot, but I can see where Squadsight would be preferable.

Dang it, they made choices in this game difficult. I agonize over every decision I make. Image IPB

Squadsight. Always. That skill is downright cheating.

Really? It's that good? So does it work from any distance? I never chose it, because I couldn't wrap my head around how a sniper could shoot something he couldn't see. Are the percentages low?

The Sniper gets the accuracy from the squadmember who can see the target, even if the sniper can not. The other squadmembers are basicially acting as spotters. If he has a clear LOS he can take the shot.

Especially with the laser or plasma sniper rifles and combined with the double tap ability and the archangel armor the sniper is hitting like a freight train.

Double tapped the endboss with that tactic. It was rather anticlimatic

^ That is crazy. OK, I guess I will be hiring some new troops tonight! Image IPB

Now that I'm thinking about it, I may already have some green snipers waiting in the wings, and I'm really close to getting Archangel armor. This will be fun.

Double Tap for Colonel, then? I usually choose In the Zone. I wonder if I'm going about this the wrong way...

In my experience double tap racks up enough damage to kill everything the enemy can throw at you, especially if you hit them with a critical.

The only problem I have is the low will stat of my best sniper. His hysterical breakdowns can either make or break my game :D

Double Tap is much more reliable, since you can get a second shot regardless of whether your first shot killed the target or not. The cooldown's not too much of a problem since they're usually sitting back and waiting for an enemy to enter their line of sight.

I hate shotguns. Never use the darn things anymore. The up close pop is nice but since you can't hit diddly outside of spitting didtance they're not of any value. Aerial targets, I do not care what the % says, my shotgunners never drew blood.

My sniper's will is awful but since he's never anywhere near an alien it doesn't matter. I pretty much only shoot with Squad Sight so my snipers only draw fire if the enemy is super close to the LZ.
