I just came off a brutal mission where one of my assaults got KOed by a Cyberdisk early in the mission (RIP Sgt. Eva 'Tombstone' Dominguez ;-() My only other assault (who also happens to have the highest kills) and my only heavy are wounded for 2 days. I have a Satellite Nexus which will be ready in 2 days after which I can simultaneously launch 4 more satellites.
The thing is though, the game wouldn't let me skip 2 days without another alien abduction. Oh no. It hates me. It just game me another mission a day after the previous one, one a "Very Difficult" mission in Russia and an "Easy" mission in Argentina. Russia is on max. panic level right now (bars are full) Yeah, there's no way I'm attempting the Russia one with half of my best team either KIA or wounded.
So my question is, if I do the Argentina one, will I lose Russia? What happens if I ignore a mission where a country is already on the maximum possible panic level? I can still get it down, right....as countries only leave during the council report at the end of each month?

Knocks out anything besides Abductor, and Battleships in 2 shots.

Well, you can always trump this by equiping your Firestorm with Fusion Lances... Talk about overkill
Though maybe they are necessary for Impossible mode?

Okay, so I just played my toughest mission yet (t'was a Terror mission) without my main Support guy (wounded) which meant no access to his 2 smoke grenades, which I utilize heavily in my strategy every mission. They've been quite a lifesaver at times. This was also the first mission I played with only a single Support as my 3rd Support was too inexperienced so I didn't want to risk it. So I brought an extra Sniper instead who has Battle Scanner. I figured it'd be really helpful in a Terror mission in order to spot the civilians and enemies before advancing.
Turns out that wasn't the case. I take ONE step forward after the shuttle drop-off and 2 Mutons start slaughtering every civilian in the building in front of me while 2 Berserkers advance my squad. I then try to spread out my guys so I don't get flanked and 2 Chryssalids show up. I take another step to the right , and another Berserker and 2 MORE Mutons show up! Jesus.
So half the Mutons + Berserkers have my squad pinned down while the other enemies clean house with the civilians. At first I started to panic (it was Ironman after all!), so I spent my turns making a lot of mistakes trying to avoid vehicles blowing up left and right as that was the only cover I had. I couldn't have my Heavy use rockets either because that building was PACKED with civilians. Eventually, after about a dozen turns I finally killed two Berserkers, 1 Chryssalid and a couple of Mutons mainly with my Squadsight sniper and my Shotgun Assault (who cleaned up the 2 Berserkers by making heavy use of Close Combat Specialist) I took quite a risk by sending her to the front lines.
After they killed pretty much all civilians on the first floor, I figured enough was enough so I deployed a plan. The following video picks up where my rant above left off (as you can see, the LZ is RIGHT behind us to the left)

I hate the way armor and cover work.
Even a game like UFO:AI, whihc uses the quake 2 engine, has Line of Fire tracking. If the bullet hits something on the way to your target, it misses. Cover really is cover.
I've seen alines pull off impossible shots.
Shooting me trough 3 cars. Or trough 2 solid walls (solider in full cover). The shots just go trough the wall and kill me. How the hell does he even see me?
Then you have aliens getting 2 turns and magicly appearing right smack next to you. This game is cheating so bad, it's not even funny.
Frak it. I'm modding hte **** out of it.
When my assault rifles do 8 damage, we'll see whos laughing!

It will get worse. You didnt' get enemeis doign 2 moves yet or just appearing next to you suddenly, did you?
EDIT:
I actually cleared a terror mission on Ironman with only squaddies with regular weapons..no casualites.
