Lost my second playthrough already. At least my first playthrough was respectable, but this second one was lost with only 6 missions played. I think I might switch to non-ironman mode so I can get further in the game. Hm, or maybe I'll try it one more time before I do that...

While i was thinking the promotions he's going to get, a floater flied 700meters and flanked him... I love it when game cheats.
Pro tip, try to "stun" Thin Men after you get the research. This way you wont deal with them poison clouds.
Edit: Terror missions are being ridicilous some times especially in classic...
Edit: AHAHAH just playing a VIP mission, one of my rookies panicked and shot the VIP, god i hate this game

My A-Team have now rode the rainbow bridge to Valhalla. Ace "Specs" Hardlite and Oliver "Union Jack" Stanford met their end in a South American gas station. Although, compared to their two brothers in arms, they were the lucky ones.
Tamlin "Combo" O'Harra and Johnny "Disco" Rico met their end in the Alien Base. Combo was obliterated by a Cyberdisk, while Rico died from poison after killing 3 Mutons single handily. It's just a shame that he didn't have once last grenade, to spare the poor rookie girl From dying of the single most unsettling and horrible death I have ever seen.
I'm going to have nightmares about that I think...

I dropped down a difficulty level. Unfortunately the lets play I was planning is pretty much going to need me to plop down for a new HDD just for storage. Which shouldn't be too expensive. Though I could still show the first part which basically gets the tutorial stuff out of the way.

My first ragequit was when one of the zombies those guys created one-hit killed my Captain heavy in melee range.
If something is "melee only" chances are it hits stupidly hard.
Also protip for anyone reading the thread: You do not have to advance the story missions as they come up. I tried bringing contemporary weapons into the Alien Base and LOLNOPE.
Oh, and train up extra medics whenever you can. You'll need em.

This game is so amazing with the depth it has.
The relative lack of depth is actually my only complaint thus far.
That said, I am unfairly comparing it to Paradox Interactive games so, it's kind of a skewed scale. Furthermore had I been playing XCOM for years and switched to Paradox, I'd be complaining about how combat isn't visceral or reactive, which would also be unfair.

Wow. This game sounds PUNISHINGLY difficult. Makes me wish I had a gaming rig.
It definitely can be. You can also save/load your way out of collossal mistakes, which I'm doing for my first game (half a learning experience).
But then you could also enable Ironman which, well, if your whole team gets wiped out better hire some fresh meat because they're not coming back.

Finally unlocked Psi Potential in my first Soldier. Was my 'main' unit, who's an assault unit based off my main Vanguard Shepard. So thats surprisingly appropriate. But hard not to call them biotics now.

If only! Sadly Jack 'Cutlass' Flynn has to console himself with taking all the assault abilities with sword icons. Much like my Shepards. He's my close combat guy.
Speaking of which, I just love the 'Close Combat Specialist' ability they get. He gets a free shot at anyone who comes within 4 squares of him. Like those damn rushing bug packs.

There is quite a difficulty jump between the difficulty levels. On Normal you can win in pretty much straight shootouts, on classic you have to maneuver and flank.

Unfortunately there is not. Normal is a lot easier than classic and classic pushes your strategic capabilities to the limit very early and very hard.
I really dont want to impossible

IIRC not even the devs were able to beat "Impossible"
