Publishing and marketing wise that is true.  Development (outside of budget) is a different story.  Just many on here feel like BioWare sold themselves out to EA, when in reality EA purchased and owns the company.

What does "At least according to you" mean? You don't agree with that opinion? If it's not gears in space then what is it? Because covering systems and third person are very big game mechanics, and is used in most of ME gameplay...

I wasn't calling it a "CoD clone", I was making fun of the people who seem to be blind to the fact that CoD been in first person and having no cover system just changes the whole nature of the gameplay.

Mmmmh that statement is not exclusive to BSN (unfortunately)

Learnt from BSN? Sweet FA about the games, but plenty about internet idiocy. From BSN i've 'learnt' the following -

- That people dislike change of any kind.
- Blonde hair upsets people.
- Breasts upset people.
- People that like shooters are all dribbling simpletons.
- If a game isn't made for my exact tastes, it's crap.
- People like to make the same points, multiple times in as many threads as possible.
- People hate everything, yet still oddly hang around the forums.
- Hate ME2 = Troll. Love ME2 = Fanboy. Love ME1 = The only ME fans that matter. Hate anything about ME1 = simpleton who 'doesn't get' RPG's.  There is no middle ground on BSN - either a hater, or a fanboy - CHOOSE!!!
- Gaming devs are all lazy.

So many more great examples i'm sure, but only so much time in the day.  Despite the stupidity though, most people on BSN are a good crowd who accept others opinions even if they don't agree.

I remember in the mid 90's all FPS were Doom clones.

In the mid 90's anything that wasn't a Doom clone was the exception to the rule. Gaming is pretty diverse in comparison to the doom era, regardless of the milking of sequels and despite the attempts to topple WoW, CoD and GoW we can at least be thankful that it isn't just that one game hogging all the spotlight like the way it was for PC gaming in the Doom era..
