To be honest, I don't even know the whole story of DA2. After multiple attempts, I've given up any hope of DA2 holding my interest long enough for me to get a character to Act 3.

Through my times on various forums, I always see some of the same type of threads.

_____ Isn't realistic.

Most of this type of thread for DA2 was the rogue and/or 2h warrior combat.

Lots of people compare it to real life; "Jumping 15ft in the air isn't possible", "No one can swing an 8ft sword that fast", etc.

What I'm wondering is why the hero of the story can't be better than the average fighter.

These skills aren't limited to just Hawke, are they?    Isabela  can hop 20 feet in the air in any direction, land on her feet any time and poke away with her daggers faster than anyone.  Varric can do the same thing with a crossbow.  Fenris's sword is bigger than he is.    Merril took pole dancing lessions while studying to be a keeper.

Things don't have to be realistic, but at the same time,  they shouldn't have to verge on comedic simply because you're the "hero"

Not only is the speed ridiculous, but the animations are pretty bad too. Hawke doesn't fight with any finesse or skill like the characters in Origins do, he just swings his sword like he's whacking at a pinata. All of the characters do, actually.

I'm not sure. Its more akin to dancing, especially with all the pointless spinning and twirling.

Warrior 2-handed: The final hit is a spinning strike. Why?
Warrior shield + sword: the final hit, you twirl the sword before striking. Why?

Rogue archer: The final hit when meleeing is an aerial spin strike. Why?
Rogue daggers: Again, the final hit is an aerial spin strike. Why?

Mage: 4th and 5th attacks involve pointless and flashy movements. Why?
Mage melee: The final hit requires twirling the staff like a baton. Why?

One thing that also bugs me is how each melee combo (except the rogue's) involves the same striking rhythm.

Diagonal diagonal, upper upper, big slow hit.
