For those of you who made an adept, vanguard, or sentinel Commander Shepard I ask the following question:
How did your Shepard become a biotic?
To become a biotic, a human must be exposed to element zero while in the womb. After birth, he or she must be fitted with a biotic implant and heavily trained. We know from conversations with Kaidan that Shepard probably didn't attend Biotic Acclimation and Temperance Training, which was the common destination for human biotic children early on in the history of human biotics exploration.
So, how was your Shepard exposed and trained?

For my spacer adept, I'm presuming Hannah was exposed at some point during her early military service. We know the exposure had to have occurred some time before Shepard's birth in 2154, and the timeline does mention that after 2151 a fleet was assembled and the construction of Arcturus began. Dust-form element zero would've been pretty common.
As for training, Shepard would've been attending Alliance military schools, with both parents in the navy. I'm sure there were alternatives to BaAT, especially in the 2160s as the Alliance matured its relationships with other species. Kaidan does point out that children sent to the camp were essentially kidnapped and held against their will, I doubt the Alliance or Conatix would've done the same to the child of two officers.
Then on enlistment at eighteen, in 2172, I've no doubt the Alliance had proper biotic training courses.

Sense my Shepard was Earthborn - we really don't know... no records of any family... and you would be amazed the things and skills you can learn running the Streets in the slums and underbelly of the world.

Isn't it hard coded into the timeline?
2168 CE: Shepard receives secondary exposure to element zero. Permanent biotic inclination manifests.
2171 CE: Shepard is officially detected as a biotic and fitted with L3 implants.
Well, guess that says nothing on HOW he/she got it.
I don't really have any biotic Shepards. Got one Sentinel which I had a completionist run with, so I suppose there it's the case. But I guess I could always say it was due to Project Lazarus, since he was an Engineer beforehand. And one Adept I just wanted to try out. But my 'canon' Shepard(s) aren't biotics.

Red sand exposure for Earthborn/Colonial. Eezo exposure for spacer (actually, don't have a spacer biotic yet).

Hmm, was the Mindoir colonist exposed by "accident" as well?

My Shepard was a soldier in ME1 and turned into a vanguard in ME2. My excuse is that he developed those abilities as a result of Project Lazarus. How? Who cares?

He ate paint chips as a child on Mindoir. Somehow those paint chips included trace amounts of eezo for whatever reason.

I think there should be some snippet to explain shepard's possible exposure to eezo. But I assume that perhaps shepard during his N7 training got trained to use biotics. but lets look at the origins...
Spacer: perhaps shepard's mother is biotic? or shepard was inadvertantly exposed to ship's core in the womb, since there is eezo on ships?
Colonist: perhaps a similar eezo dump was made on shepard's colony by Cerberus?
Earthborn: this one has the most possibilities in my opinion. Shepard's parents? testing on orphanages? Shepard was born in Singapore?
Its not vital to know this, but something to explain it would be interesting. In that vein, it would be nice to have more background on your Shepard and the class you choose for him.

I know!
I standby the other post where anything can happen on Earth...
I mean growing up in the slums....there's got to be possibilites about exposure.

For my earthborn!Shep I'd like to imagine that he got exposed to Eezo during a raid with the Reds.

I just figured my Spacer biotic, with Marine parents, was exposed in the womb when her mom went on a mission to secure an eezo facility/control a downed drive, etc. when she didn't know she was preggers...

My shepard's mom gave birth ontop of an ezo mountain, and there came the biotic titan that is Shepard! Dual wielding singularities!
